Bought this 2014 a few weeks ago from a private seller. Immediately after purchase (of course) the belt started squealing. Faint at first, now constant and louder. I also noticed that the coolant level was a little low, so I topped it off a few days ago.

I got under it to today, dropped the skid plate and was planning on taking tension off the belt and checking all the rollers and free spinning parts for seizure. When the skid plate came off, I noticed that there was a considerable wet spot under the power steering pump that has been leaking (the belt squeal). Then I hopped up and saw another wet spot on the radiator :(.

Taking it in to the shop on Tuesday to get checked out. Expecting a new radiator and PS pump .

Replace that oil cap. It has chunks broken off.

Those pics look like it could be coming from the oil filter housing. If someone installed it incorrectly (as in, put the outer O ring in the wrong spot, which is unfortunately not uncommon), it could be flinging oil everywhere.

How does your oil level look?

This happened to me by the way with my old 4runner. The very last time someone else changed my oil.

I'd volunteer my old plastic housing, he'll just need to transfer the inner tower over to it.

That's actually exactly what it is. Thank you for the input! I would much rather replace the oil filter housing than a power steering pump.

I am still worried about the radiator...

I know people do it all the time on this forum to use the metal housing but this video has some pretty solid information on doing that, considering you're messing with the spring tension of the bypass valve. https://youtu.be/G_vl2AYe7Yg

Yeah, definitely make sure where that wet spot is coming from. But if it's from oil spurting out of the oil filter housing, it could be hitting the fan and flinging onto the radiator. That doesn't look like a coolant leak to me.

Is your oil level low? Did you check the dipstick?

I also definitely agree with the others who said to replace that filter housing. It doesn't get cracked like that for no reason. Some neanderthal with a torque wrench put way too much pressure on that thing at some point in its life.

I'll have to check tomorrow. I was scrambling to get some things done tonight. There hasn't been anything leaking out from under the truck where it has been parked, but there is definitely oil coming from that housing. The cross bar under it has a damp spot. I didn't notice anything stained or pooled up in the skid plate either, but I'm sure it has been slinging fluid onto the belt.

I'm not worried, I moved the spring and everything over so the only difference is in the durability of the material that surrounds the oil filter, but thanks anyway. I'm comfortable giving away my otherwise-intact plastic housing if he wants it.
