I don't know much about wood working or floor supports. Asking here before going to pops.

In the camper the wiring for the trailer lights, and 12V from batteries comes up through the flood under where the dinette used to be.

I'd like to move this hole forward so I can hide it until the trim. Any ideas other than just drilling a hole? Is it that simple? Lol




Found a comb and some loose supports for that open portion of the cabinets thing directly above the trim panel that's removed

I was about to say, "Damn, they left you a hairbrush AND a bunch of matching fasteners! Win! They really wanted you to screw a lot, and look good doing it!!!"

In all seriousness though, I'm not a mobile home builder (but one of my former teammates and a friend back home both built them and I could ask if you get nothing here). Still, I'm pretty sure the flooring in most mobile homes is just a sheet of heavy lumber fastened to supports, amirite?

If so, as long as there's not something support-oriented underneath the place you want to drill, I can't understand why there'd be an issue with doing something nicer, like drilling the void in the linoleum beneath where the brush was. BUT two points to make: 1) You need to make sure that grommet relocates with the wiring, and 2) It'd be wise to use a galvanized nail plate to protect anything or anyone from running a fastener through the wood and into that wire bundle.

EDIT: Oh, and as if I need to say this, plug up the old hole as good as possible (rodents). And know, those little bastards will chew right through foaming insulation if they know there's something good on the other side.

 

We moved into our all electric condo in 2012. The stovetop was killing me. I bought a blackstone griddle with a burner on the side. Started doing most of the cooking outside. Absolutely love it. Take it with us on large group camping trips. Whenever I win the lotto and can afford my forever home. An outdoor kitchen with gas it on the list

 

I used to spend a fair bit of time under mobile homes and trailers (TV cable installation and repair) and often there was a lot of free space, and insulation (or not) between two slabs of board material. Much of the wiring and piping hangs in that space, loosely supported by hanging metal or plastic fasteners. I'd strongly suggest you crawl under and do a visual check, try to figure out what is below that hide-y space-- but probably it will be clear OR attached in such a way that you can move it aside and secure it with zip ties or what not while you drill. The two floor set up may mean you'll have to remove a portion of the bottom "floor" to see all this, and to pretty up your wiring path. What I don't know (@shifty`probably has advice) is how to replace whatever panel you cut out. I used to encounter missing sections all the time, which made my job easier, but probably also more accessible to varmints. And fire.

Edit: thinking more about this... even the laziest trailer constructoids can't have located that grommet waaaay out in the middle of the floor without some justification <eye roll>, so it's possible there's a sewage exit pipe or some such in the way. We're back to, you'll hafta crawl under and check it out.

 

I'll do some thinking on it. Still have to get this son of a bitch inspected so I can transfer the title. I'm so fucking sick of the God damn phone tag with the rv inspector for the state

There used to be a built in dinette there when the camper was new. It was removed before I bought it which is why the wiring "appears" to be in the middle of the floor. It didn't used to be.

@NUDRAT - I’m guessing the payload suspension lines on the Chicom spy balloon are not compatible with the grabber apparatus. Bad enough we have to use quarter million dollar AIM-9X missile but I’d hate to lose a multimillion dollar MC-130 because the pilots got a facefull of nylon on the windscreen.

 

While there's no guarantee it's authentic, it's only one seller offering at the gaping discount and they do have a super high rating, and it's not some bullshit name.

Broke in the new toolbox at work today.

 

my mobile vise table is going places. Tall wheels in the cubby cause i was working on a slope, but square buckets full of dies and forms and 1/2"drive socket sets and prybars and pickleforks and all the everything fits underneath. Put the arm on and roll it where you need it.

Thought we lived in KY where they don't care about inspecting anything with wheels. What all do they look at?

 

It's a fire Marshall inspection. Looking for fire extinguishers, exposed wiring, leaking/exposed plumbing, carbon monoxide detectors, smoke detectors, no busted windows. Etc....
