I towed my bass boat the other day for the first time. While attempting to back down the boat ramp the truck kept automatically slamming the brakes on me, which was super frustrating and made it look like I didn’t know what I was doing. It would flash “brakes” on my displays. Is there a way to turn this off?

    This button should do it.

I believe you press the button to the right of the ODO Trip reset button by your left knee. Were you not in tow mode?

I’ll try that button in the morning. I likely didn’t have it in tow mode either. While in tow mode should it automatically turn that off?

Tow mode does not turn it off. Very frustrating when you are trying to use the truck for truck stuff.

    Lots of stuff!
My experience so far after 3 camping trips with the Airstream is that I can back up with out the brakes going off on their own. I have the trailer added to the settings along with the brake gain set at 6.0. I do get a message that the safety features are turned off and that is the truck doing that. I haven't had to shut off anything, just plug in the 7 pin connector and the trailer is noticed by the truck software. I have tried towing in normal mode and in tow mode, I am not too sure the difference between the 2 tow modes that show up but I usually just let it pick the first one that pops up on the display. I do notice that the truck takes a few starts to turn the safety features back on after the trailer is parked and disconnected.

Maybe the issue is the trailer setup or if the trailer uses the 4 pin connector?

Did you have the trailer electrical connected? Trailer brakes?

Every time I've connected a trailer up to the truck, The automatic braking assist is shut off, automatically. Once the trailer is detected, which occurs when you plug in the trailers electrical harness, the truck automatically disables these features. Take a look in the owners manual when you have some time and it will walk you through the process that should be occurring.

    Rci skid plate,
I have a 4 and 7 pin trailer. They disable different things once the trailer is hooked up. Have not tried a 7 pin without tow or tow + modes. 7 pin does shut off more features then 4 pin since there is feed back to the truck via the brake controller.

So I actually was backing up my buddies boat and it was a 4 pin. I took mine yesterday which has the 7 pin and I had no issues at all backing up the trailer. I periodically pull my buddies boat so moving forward I’ll just have to hit that switch when I do
