Isn’t that the price you pay for a 2500 HD and the extra payload that comes with?

I don’t know if it’s still an issue, but my two Dodge ate front ends like a fat kid eating Cheetos.

I’m assuming they only offer the gas engine because the diesel is so heavy. The payload is only about 1,500 on the Power Wagon, low for an HD truck. Without changing the GVWR and the off-road suspension, they would probably end up with a payload under 1k if you put a diesel in it.
If you want the diesel there is the HD Rebel. I don’t think it’s as off road capable as the Power Wagon but it probably better at it than most HD’s.

See I think Toyota had a lot longer than 3 years to get the bugs worked out. They sat on the 2.5 gen for 7 years.

They did make progress over the 2.5 gen. But any new model, unfortunately, goes through growing pains and the early adopters end up being part of the QC team that provides the needed feedback to get the bugs fixed.

Installing turbos that have your truck going from a 75 mph glory machine to a 0 mph limp noodle is a pretty shitty thing to hand down to your street QC team especially considering they spent $60k+ to partake

I tow an RV so the GMC/Chevy weak ass fuel capacity is an automatic disqualification.

I just looked this up, apparently most of the GMC/Chevy 1/2 tons have a 24 gallon tank?! That really is horrible for towing.

1/2 tons are glorified grocery getters now. If you want to have a pleasant towing experience they expect you to get an HD.

True though that may be, it doesn't quite apply to current trucks.

I would beg to differ, there is a prefect truck. My 2021 Tundra has had 15 years of adjustments. It is about as good as a truck can get.

I agree. I experienced similar sudden power loss on my old 335xi twin turbo @70mph and it was scary to not have control at that speed.

I hope I never experience this on my 2023
tundra ‘cause I’m selling this thing if it happens. I only bought my truck after seeing posts that the turbo issues on the 3rd gen have addressed in the 2023s.

I still hate the interior build quality. I’m not used to toyotas creaking when I shut the door or go over bumps :(

Hold tight, you should consider coming to Alberta to buy that truck. You will save $13,000 right out the door. With the exchange difference you could save yourself quite a lot of money.

Yeah but what's the Customs folks gonna charge? I hear they pretty much charge whatever they want to receive goods from the US so I'm curious what they'll do for goods entering the States

I do believe it is a 600 to 1000 dollar import fee. Because the Ram is made in the USA, the USMCA deal prevents any tariffs on the export.

    https://www.cbp.gov/trade/basic-import-export/importing-car

Where in Canada, I do believe that it doesn't cost you to export a vehicle from Canada.

I’m not going to Canada but I appreciate you throwing that out.

This is going to happen. I just can’t get into the new GEN Tundra. I find them ugly and I dont like the power train. Which sucks because I’m an admitted Toyota fanboy.

The fact that the 5.7 Hemi Etorque gets better MPG than the new Tundra tells me Toyota didn’t do enough with this rollout.

Yeah, I think that Toyota took for granted the acceptance of poor MPG from the 5.7, and assumed their customer base didn't prioritize it as a factor. To some extent that's true, but only because of the reliability, V8 sound, and solid performance as a complete package. The big trouble with the 3rd gen is it has lots of little problems that make the addition of lower MPG than the competition too much. It's not class leading in anything, and hasn't demonstrated the reliability that Toyota buyers seek. Now, in 5 years they might have it nailed down and it may be just as reliable as the previous gens, but the rocky start with no major incentive is going to push lots of buyers elsewhere.

They will probably get it locked in at some point.
I found it crazy that the dealer in SLC didn’t want my Tundra at all and low balled me. They said Tundras sit forever. In CO it’s completely opposite. They still go for top dollar and they go quick. I’ll be selling it privately and someone will be getting a great truck that has been meticulously maintained.

BTW, your link to that dealer has me in this position. If my Ram is junk I’m blaming you.

SLC seems to be really really MPG concerned, so the low economy would make it harder to move. If you pop out to some outlying cities like Bountiful you'll get better offers I think.

Yeah, I agree with that, too. Don’t get me wrong; I’m not interested in buying a new vehicle, especially at MSRP or higher. But if everyone else is able to charge at or above MSRP and get it…why is that truck sitting there available with a gargantuan discount?

I will say this....... I see a lot of Rams on the road this day and they continue to gain market share from what I can tell. On several dealers in Knoxville over the past couple years there was not a single truck on the lot at your Chevy, GMC, and Ford dealers. There are a couple Ram dealers aound and they literally would have 50-100 trucks on the lot to choose from. Not sure that is good or bad but maybe Ram did a better job with chip shortage? It is not like they were not selling any.....
