Lol. I'm sure there are all different kinds of ways to prepare them but man the ones I just had were absolutely atrocious. Went straight in the trash. It was called Mexican flag tamales. Three tamales, one with Verde sauce, one with red sauce, and one with white sauce.

There are multiple types. That being said, as somebody born and raised in Tucson (basically Northern Mexico), I love Mexican food but tamales are one of my least liked.

In my experience, tamales are either great or they are horrible. There is no in-between.

Let me guess, you bought fast food, or God forbid, canned tamales. Good tamales are a work of art and a gastronomic delight. The best tamales you'll ever eat are usually purchased from the trunk of a car, filled with well spiced and flavorful meat (some are ground, some are shredded, both are wonderful), relatively grease free, and always leave you wanting more.

No sir, from my favorite Mexican restaurant. Decided to get my usual but also try something different lol. I definitely would be willing to try some trunk tamales though.

Very true - but I’ve had more bad than good. When the masa has the texture of beach sand - someone fucked up.

    Very true
I haven’t had them in years
Used to be a roach coach that showed up at one of our job sites that made them - they were incredible.
