He’s going to have to do a bit better than that to win an idiocy contest in today’s world. So. Much. Competition.

Sure. In another post he said it took 36k of force to pull his finger. He’s pulling more than trailers

That “guy” is full of more than air. Pics or it didn’t happen. If he was that overloaded can’t believe he didn’t take a pic. 18k trailer has to be 1800-2000# tongue weight if not more. If he did actually tow, how far, flat ground, etc. doesn’t seem believable. Of course when the suspension *****s the bed, he’ll be bad mouthing Toyota for their poor quality.

Sure, you could pull that much weight. I doubt the brakes are up to the task. Drivetrain is probably the next victim. Or oncoming traffic. Who knows. Just because you can doesn't mean you should.

I'm sure it could pull 18,000lbs...for a short distance, and at low vehicle speed.

If that guy really did try to pull that much weight you have to ask what happened to his critical thinking skills.

It’s kind of like the drivers who drive 55 mph on solid ice or snow and say “I can because I have 4 wheel drive.” Sure, you can drive 55 (or pull that weight) but will you be able to stop safely when the time comes? The answer lies with the next YouTube video of a 20-30 car pile up on some freeway in the Midwest or even in your local town the next time there’s snow or ice. Shoot, you can pull up Portland drivers in snow on the Internet and see dozens of videos that are very entertaining.
Quite honestly I think I would be too embarrassed to post something like that on YouTube or wherever, it’s stupidity in its purest form.

That guy is so full of shit it's coming out on Tundras.com.

My diesel works to pull 14-18k, and I'll take the Pepsi challenge any day with a 3rd Gen truck.

Like Phil said...it's a competition to see who the more stupidererer is.

I might as well state the obvious.
That was a V8 and old but bulletproff platform. (Bazinga) :boink:

Those turbos must of been screaming. If it's real, thank goodness he didn't run into a road hazard and hurt someone.

Probably could a short distance or flat ground. Don't think it's safe to do but people do what they want.
In newport I've seen a scian tow and launch an 18 foot boston whaler center console. The guy said he's done it multiple times when trailering short distance down the 55 freeway. I've also seen a mercedes s500 with a custom hitch. Guy was backing it up into the water to launch what looked to be a 25-28 foot sailboat. Personally i would never do that to such a nice car but the rich guy didn't care.

    Lots of stuff!
I really don't know why everyone is so excited about a mere 18k or 20k! We are missing the big picture here and Ford knows how to beat those little numbers. Try 1 Million pounds, let's see the other guys top that ;)

I can't believe nobody has commented on the stupidity of a company replacing their 2500's and F250's with a 1/2 T truck.

Aah, the indomitable British spirit, attaching a shitty French car to a tanker - presumably with the expectation that the tanker would give it a burial at sea.

Of course it can pull 18,000 pounds. A ford ranger can pull 18,000 pounds. Why is this so surprising to everyone? The question is not "can it pull 18,000 pounds." The question is "should it pull 18,000 pounds?" And the answer is no.

Few 1/2 ton trucks like GM are putting up big numbers now with 4cylinder turbo setups.

New Toyota Grand Hylander has a 4 cylinder turbo setup pushing 360hp and 400lbs of torque. I expect that 4cylinder setup in the new Taco and 4Runner.
