Fyi- my dealer is replacing the lid on the center console for me free of charge as we speak. 2020, no extended warranty but they agreed it was a defect.

Side note, the truck is also in for a bad computer that caused the SOS connection and remote connect to stop working. Not sure if they are doing the console lid for me just for my trouble with the other issue and me sitting at the dealer for the past 2 days but either way it’s worth asking for them to call it a defect and get it replaced.

So update. At the dealer right now for an oil change. Yes I know I should do it myself but it's 14 degrees out and I don't feel like doing it lol.

Talked to the service advisor and he straight up said Toyota wouldn't cover it and they have an upholstery person that comes in every once in a while and that they could quote me.

I'm going to try and get a hold of Toyota myself to see what they'd do. It hasn't gotten worse so if I still lose the battle, I'll wait until spring and try and fix it myself.

I never updated after my last post but my dealer agreed to replace my lid and the first 3 that came in from Toyota were damaged already (one was already peeling in the same spot) so they kept ordering new ones until they got a good one. I spent lots of time at the dealer lately for this and the Toyota connect app issues but I do finally have a new lid for no charge. Guess we’ll see how long this one lasts because I doubt they’ll replace it again.

Dealer replaced mine last December. Only problem was that they wanted the truck for a day. So I took mine off and handed it to them and they gave me the new one, pulled over into the visitor lot and put it on. Took 10 min.
