I've got the 4.7L V8 and am running my own custom setup- Y pipe into 23" cherry bomb (after cats) with factory tailpipe over rear axle and dumped right after. I like it, it does have a little drone, however everyone seems to swear on here by Keith's @dirtydeeds setups, I'm sure he'll chime in when he gets a sec, but I think the general consensus has been that everyone loves them. And from what I hear they don't drone as well

Honestly, I love the TRD dual exhaust. It sounds great and looks awesome.

This is entirely subjective and based on your desire. The tone, rasp, drone tolerance, etc all varies from person to person. It also matters how often you load your bed or tow.

i didn’t pull the trigger but Dirty Deeds is renown for having different options for your needs, but also they work with you if you’re unhappy with the results. I’ve heard great things about the Corsa, Borla and TRD catbacks.

Anything Flowmaster is a surefire way to have a bassy drone.

Any competent muffler shop can cut off the oem muffler and replace it with a magnaflow, flow master, etc of your choice. Costs a lot less this way.
That’s all dirty deeds exhaust kits are, muffler replacement with bullet style cans.

Exhaust is subjective, what sounds good to you might be to quiet, or drone for me and vice versa.

Best thing you can do is listen to a lot of videos, make some phone calls, and the largest, see what fits your budget.

I first had a Magnaflow with the drone from hell, I then found Keith and bought a BAM system.
    Call Keith @dirtydeeds
Bolts right into existing OEM pipes.

    I've had 3 @dirtydeeds BAM systems, 8", 10", 12"..
I'll say the 10" with the resonator is the sweet spot..

    I currently have a 12 but I'm going back to a 10.
I don't tow and I found I prefer the sound of the 10".
It arrived Thursday, I swapped it yesterday.

Keith at Dirty Deeds offers some of the best customer service I've ever encountered..

    \

The thing about Keith, if you don't like the sound of the muffler, he'll swap it out with a shorter (louder) or quieter (longer) one.
You just have to pay shipping both ways for the swap.

Give Keith a call, he is easy to talk to and deal with..

Sounds like shit with nauseating highway drone...

Sounds awesome and bolts right in, very minimal 1.5 to 2K drone (less than stock), no drone on the highway....

You fail to mention all the R&D Keith has done trying different mufflers from different brands of varying sizes, and the different lengths and placements of the Helmholtz resonators. He has clearly spent a lot of time and money developing these systems. Those Helmholtz resonators he spent so much time finding the perfect location and length for, are absolutely amazing. I put the exhaust on without them because I was anxious, and the drone was extremely noticeable. I put the Helmholtz resonators on the next weekend and it was like a light switch for turning off the drone. Absolutely incredible that they work that well. Exhaust sounds amazing and gave it noticeably more power. It was expensive, but it’s totally worth it.

If you are happy with his products and ability to sell I’m happy for you. Helmhertz resonators aren’t new, just marketed better by dirtydeeds.

Thank you sir. It’s true, I’ve done more R&D on tundra exhaust systems than ALL OF THE OTHER MANUFACTURERS COMBINED!!

I use this knowledge to consult with every customer whom wants it, and use what I learn during the consultation to build quite literally the perfect exhaust for them and their use of their truck.

From the outside looking in, sort of. I’m not selling exhaust systems which are built, packaged and put on a shelf until you buy it. I can build literally anything. The main thing a guy gets with my systems is the exact sound and style exhaust they want. Not just a prepackaged pile of pipes and bullet mufflers. Lol

also, our mufflers are quite unique. They’re twice as thick as anything else on the market. The packing is forever. You can literally run this system over on the highway and it’ll still bolt onto your truck.

not trying to sell you one, you’re already set up. This post is for the benefit of others reading this thread.

You’re putting words in my mouth, I didn’t say they were new, but he’s one of the few I’ve seen use them PLUS he’s played with tons of different combinations of lengths and placement to optimize drone reduction.

All true. He spent over an hour on the phone with me over multiple phone calls answering questions, explaining how he arrived at the design he currently uses, asking me what I wanted loudness/performance wise, and what I used the truck for, etc, all in an effort to deliver the perfect product for the customers wants. What other manufacturer would do that?! He was even giving free advice on future upgrades like tuning and gearing.

As for build quality, he’s not lying. Take a hammer and tap a high quality OEM exhaust pipe or muffler. It has a very different sound than tapping the dirty deeds exhaust systems. One has a “ping/tang” type sound, the other sounds like you’re hitting something similar to a frame rail. They’re SOLID.

Buy once, cry once. You won’t find anyone disappointed or who feels ripped off after buying a Dirty Deeds system. Save your pennies and buy from a small business that gives a lot to the Tundra community. For the best price, buy on Black Friday. Sometimes you’ll even find them on the used market because someone traded in or sold their Tundra.

I wish you would "key" the exhaust pipe at the clamp like the OE. The resonator is heavy which causes the pipe to rotate. No amount of tightening the clamp or replacement clamp has worked. The resonator just sits on top of my spare tire.

7 years and 3 different BAMs I've never had that issue, and I've been using the same OEM clamp that came with the truck.
Perhaps you aren't tightening that rear clamp down enough.
Mine is so tight I've actually broken and replaced that bolt twice putting the clamp back on.
Given that I also replaced the tailpipe gasket every time I took that apart.
Perhaps if you replaced that gasket with a new one it would give the clamp more 'grip'.
That gasket comes apart every time I take the system out, even if its only been there a few months.

    Amazon.com: FEL-PRO 60461 Exhaust Pipe Gasket : Automotive

I get it snug, get out from under the truck and level the tailpipe, then tighten the sh!t out that bolt.
I tighten it with my impact driver, then torque it down hard by hand until I can't move it...
I did it again just 2 days ago...:D

It’s the tail pipe that’s twisting and not the resonator?

If I had one single bit of constructive criticism for the dirty deeds system, it would be the flanges and lack of gaskets. Mine are a little different since I have the TRD replacement system. The factory flanges have a machined recess for the gaskets to sit in. When you tighten down the flange bolts on the factory system, the flange faces mate together and the clamping force is put into the flange instead of the gasket. The dirty deeds system does not have that same recess as the factory muffler and does not include new gaskets. When I installed mine, I used brand new factory TRD gaskets, and the gaskets are quite thick, so if you crank them down super tight, you’ll bend the ears of the flanges. I tightened the bolts down until the ears started to bend but there was still a noticeable air gap between the flanges due to the lack of a machined gasket recess. After driving for 25min, the gaskets softened from the heat of the exhaust, and the tail pipes loosened up to the point where the bolts almost fell out. I tightened them down again, crushing the hot gaskets, and they didn’t loosen up again. Now I’ve heard the reasoning behind the lack of a machined gasket recess, that it’s more expensive to produce which would be passed on to the customer and that the flat flange face allows for more adjustment, but I would much rather have a machined recess for the gasket and to not have to deal with that.

The sound and performance of that exhaust system makes any small issue like that worth it though. I’ve heard several different systems for the Tundra (Flowmaster, magnaflow, etc) and absolutely nothing sounds like the dirty deeds system, it’s the perfect mix of a low rumble with no drone at low throttle (and one that won’t get you attention from the cops), but yet a loud beautiful sing of that DOHC V8 at moderate to WOT.

I'll chime in here only because of being a satisfied customer of Keith's for several years. My 3rd BA Exhaust is Keith's 20" single side model. After having a 10", then a 14" and "trading" up to a 20", I have the ideal system for my uses. I liked the Corsa styled tailpipe tip so much, I bought a (no-logo) tip from Summit Racing. Same quality double walled construction as Corsa offers!Resized_20230124_130907.jpg

I went from 8 to 12 - took a breather with OEM, and after corresponding with Mike and talking to Keith - jumped on the 20" bandwagon.

Hey Ed,I just noticed you're in SE PA, I'm only 25 miles or so from Lancaster, we could've met somewhere, so you could listen to the 20" system! Sometimes I believe my last few brain cells died lonely and cold!:D

Lancaster is about 2 hours from me - so we're fairly close.

But, no worries... Our combined experiences with the different systems and your description of the 20" was good enough for me. As far as brain cells, I'm with you - maybe we can make 1 functioning brain out of our 2.
