Doing the Halogen to LED headlight swap soon. Opinions wanted, keep the amber DRL's or no?

I have a 2016 Limited with the original Halogen headlights with amber DRL's (no LED strip). I'm waiting on the new 18+ Toyota LED headlights with LED DRL's. I am going to use IHackers dimming harness. As I understand it, I can splice into the gray wire and keep the amber DRL's that will go on WITH the LED DLR's (Amber+LED DLR's) OR I can snip/de-pin the gray wire and turn off the amber DRL's altogether (white LED DRL's only). Looking for any opinions on advantages of either choice. Some may think that having both the amber and LED DRL's looks to "busy". I'm leaning on keeping both. Any down side to keeping them both on? What are your thoughts.

Not really any downside to keeping DRLs. I did the swap on my 2017 and decided not to have the DRLs lit up. Really personal preference, I thought it didn't look as clean with the two colors. Which ever you decide once install is complete those LED lights are absolutely awesome!

Installed mine last weekend. I like the white LED only DRL myself. Pic for reference. And agree. Awesome.

edit: the TRD pro LEDs come with the old halogen blinker bulb. I replaced those with an amber LED bulb from Headlight Revolution. I don’t remember which, but it in one of their install videos. That bulb is really bright - not sure what it would be like for a DRL.

Thanks guys. I think I'll try it both ways to see how it looks before I put the dash back together.

I know exactly what turn signal bulbs you are talking about. did they work out without any additional resistors?

They were mostly plug and play. Had to switch 2 wires. But I think that’s the same regardless of which bulb you use.

    Hey guys I’m new here,

I’m gonna copy the thread I just started regarding the same things you guys are talking about, I’d really appreciate some help on this one. Thanks!

    Hey everyone,
First post on here as I’m now looking for some help. I purchased so Vland headlights(same as 2018 models) for my 2015 back in the summer and I’ve really liked them so far, love the white drl’s and sequential turn signals. Only complaint is the amber turn signal (drl) is on all the time. I’m aware of de pinning the wire that makes it a drl and only turn signal but I’m more interested in another route if that’s possible or second option would be to replace it with white led bulb. I understand the amber is important for the turn signal for safety reasons but having the strip drls go amber when turning make it quite obvious. Does anyone know if this is possible?
