Timing Belt Replacement - Proper Wire Routing - PSA

Yes, been mentioned, discussed many many times. Just a PSA for folks who may have
had timing belt replaced recently by a shop, or even a DIY and did not know that there
is a right way and a not so right way, to route the wires. I am guilty of misrouting my own.

If your wiring is not behind the fan bracket, you need to secure it to the vertical metal cooling
tube (I used several tie wraps), to prevent the wiring from being cut through, by the serpentine
belt.

I read someones comment recently, regarding this issue.....I went out to inspect the truck and sure enough, my wire
loom had already been touched by the serpentine belt! It was then that I secured it. That comment saved me from
becoming stranded. I hope this post helps at least one person from becoming stranded.

 

Appreciate the PSA. If only more people would listen. If only more shops would properly secure the wire

 

So much easier replacing the belt with the engine on a stand rather than in the truck...
