Wind noise

Hi I’m new here. I have a 2011 Tundra TRD that I bought new. In a strong head wind and at highway speeds I sometimes get a whistling noise that sounds like it’s coming from in the top middle of the windshield. Has anyone had this issue and is there a fix ? I’ve taped over the trim thinking that could be it but no change. Any thoughts?

 

Welcome aboard from central Texas. Lots of posts on the same problem through the years with both Gen2 and Gen2.5 ('07-'21) and maybe even Gen3 now. Folks think they've found the source, and maybe the fix, only to find later that it still does it. A search of the forum will show you all the trials and maybe solutions, though I think there's no real solution found yet. One problem is that the wind direction and speed have a lot to do with whether or not the howl or whistle will present itself, so a fix seems to work, then after months of no noise, with the wind and speed just right, it suddenly starts again. It is also difficult to pin down the location of the noise. You mention top center of the windshield, others say somewhere around the side mirrors, or side of windshield, or front edge of a front door, both driver's side, and passenger side, depending on the direction of the wind. I have just, on a recent trip, discovered something regarding the source of the noise, and after a little more research, plan to post it in one of the ongoing threads. But the subject does pop up every now and again, and I believe the solution on most vehicles has thus far eluded everyone. Stay tuned.
