Hey guys, let me know if I'm being crazy but at the bottom of the truck on all sides there's significant flaws in the paint. It appears to be bubbling. It's not grindme build up because even when you wipe it away you can still feel the texture. It's solid, so it's not a pliable feeling when you press against it. It almost looks like textured bubbles.

I'm going to reach out to my sales rep who sold me the truck a couple weeks ago, but I wanted to double check everyone's opinion here before I do.

That is rock chip protection. It is either painted on or a clear tape.

You mean what looks like orange peel texture? If yes, that is supposed to be like that as others have said.

Phew! Glad to hear I won't be losing my truck for a few days/weeks to the dealer while they fix a problem!

I'm coming from a line of muscle cars and don't believe I ever seen/noticed this on them or if this is unique to trucks or off road vehicles.

Thank you to everyone! Hard to not be a hypochondriac when you've got a $80k+ invested in a vehicle!

It’s a rock guard that doesn’t do anything at all. Of anything given the cavity between the bumps it’s probably more prone to chilling like my 1300 mile platinum already has

Ah, figured maybe it was some crap that happens in the Midwest, like the grime and salt builds up and gets between the textured spots.

This is why good old-school running boards still work....

TRD wheels, skid plate, black fender flares, mud flaps and running boards. Pirelli Scorpion 275/70/20 Allterrain Plus tires
Agree on stone chip prevention benefit running boards offer. I noticed a few chips , at 10k mikes, on the quarter panel/rear fender between the rear tire and the cab. They are on both sides a foot above the textured stone guard on the bottom OP was asking about. Added factory mud flaps and TRD cast aluminum running boards and have’t seen any new chips when I hand dry after washing.
