I'm currently converting a 3rd bedroom into an office for the wife. Son had the walls painted a dark orange/brown color so it has taken 4 coats of primer to get it light enough for the colors she picked. Hardwood floors are to be added later on. Came downstairs to the family room after doing some of the priming and the wife said I think this is our next room to do. She wants it painted........... and it currently has wallpaper :eek2::eek:

Lighting the wallpaper on fire is the only way to remove. Tell the wife this and check back in

The last of my Triac Dimmable LED Strip Lights finally came in for the kitchen. I ordered from Amazon and they arrived on different days over the last few weeks but I did save $30+ per strip light so I ain’t complaining. While I was at it, I cut new light panels to replace the old ones.

The companion switch to my expensive ass dimmer switch should be here tomorrow so hopefully I’ll get that done and it works. :)

We ended up going with Window World...

They knocked it outta park with everything we wanted & needed and price point was so spot on that the Florida Room will have real glass sliders

now instead of Plexi- o_O :cool:.. Plus we added two doors for installation also ..

Timeline was not that bad either , same as the other one..

My last home had window world windows. No issues at all with them. My buddy is a windows and siding guy, even he said they were just fine, mid grade windows. I bought all new windows for my new house through him and we installed them ourselves. Not difficult. About $250 a window give or take, and free install was a bonus for sure.

Also, roughed in a pot filler for over the stove before we do our backsplash. Used an existing waterline from an abandoned water heater nearby. The hot water line is plumbed to the existing 50gal. water heater that now serves the whole house. This water heater was 30 years old and leaking. Put a shutoff valve on it and ran the 3/4” pex through the ceiling to the wall with the pot filler. Insulated to pex in the attic area. Will install the backsplash this week and finish up the pot filler install.

My dimmer companion switch arrived this morning. Got them installed - they are touch dimmers that work with the LED lights that were put in yesterday.

Waiting for the weather to be dry and better but the different colors of my new stamped front porch piss me off. I’m hoping I can still get the concrete guys back out here to fix it because they had to cover part of the porch from rain while curing. Now it has a discoloration from the plastic sheeting they used. Was hoping it would go away with curing and time but it didn’t. Sounds like the whole porch would need an acid wash or something? I don’t know but it’s annoying to look at.

May be able to acid wash/etch it and stain it or something if that's anything you'd be interested in

I’m hoping I can get them to fix it but they’ve been paid and it’s been done for about 2 months so I’m not holding my breath. I would have made them cover it all if I knew it would discolor anything that was covered.

Concrete has its issues for sure. Our driveway is an about 13 months old. It was poured in the rain and not covered. Since it has an aggregate finish, it turned out inconsistent in its look. Not up to looking like the model home for sure. We’ve had discussions with the builder, and of course they are balking about replacement as it would be costly. Coming from my last house with an asphalt driveway, with its dips and cracks over time, I like the concrete. The concrete has issues with some holes due to air bubbles or whatever during the pour. I decided to patch some of the holes and bad aggregate areas. Anyways, the builder wants to do an acid wash, but nor sure how that will help. It’s their VP stalling technique…. Im not sure of it does not help if I need to proceed with litigation. I am just worried on the areas where some aggregate has fallen off if it will get worse or if there is an internal concrete issue.

I'm not in construction or anything, so I don't know.... But, will those issues amplify over time? If not, could they just float over the top of the existing rather than busting it out (seems like that would be cheaper and less time consuming for everyone).

@Fotnot I had contractors do it, the after pics was taken about an hour after they laid down the coating on the floors and foundation walls. They had to power wash the concrete, degrease/scrub and acid etch, patch, let it dry then apply the polycuramine. They are coming back this weekend to lay down the clear coat on top and restaining the steps.

I’m not in construction either, so I had to look up what you meant by floating the top. I agree that getting rid of the driveway would be time consuming and maybe not the best option. It may be quite thick in spots so keeping it as a base would be good. No cracks except for a small one at the end of the driveway that has been there since it was new, and has not changed. It actually ver hard to see. Thanks for the response.

I would think you'd have a bigger problem later on by putting a layer over it because it seems like it would be as sturdy and would break off or crack. However, like the two of you, I can only guess. Maybe they can patch, stain, and blend it?

Totally different situation, but when I was in Vegas I know a lot of people that have their rear patios "upgraded" by having another 'layer' of concrete floated over the top of the current pad, and then they'd have it 'stamped (unique patterns)' or different colors added to the top layer to enhancer appearance. I'm just not sure if that's feasible on a driveway, or if it would hold up here w/all the rain and humidity. When I had my kennel pad poured here, it took over a week for it to set enough to put anchors in (after waiting a couple of months to get someone to actually do the job)

...back home it would be ready to set anchors within 24 hours and fulled cured in 48-96 hours depending on the mix.

I hope you find a solution though that doesn't end up costing you any money, cuz that is bullshit. I've been frustrated here w/the lack of quality labor and accountability for shitty service.

Good luck, and keep us updated on how things turn out for you!

I am kinda skeptical about getting a coating on the driveway. Maybe on the back patio, to match the pavers we added as an extension to the patio. We definitely have issues with drainage, as western Washington gets wet. We are having our landscaper guys work the drainage with our other landscaping. I’ve posted some preliminary work, but they had delays to work another job(s) and material shortage as we kept adding more to our work. It will turn out great and hopefully alleviate any rain issues (ya sure you betcha! ). I’ll post some final pictures but here are a couple photos taken today with the latest rain. I want the landscapers to add French drains that work vs the ones the developer crew put in. The warranty guy said we will get reimbursed as their new drain people supposedly bid higher than what our guys will do if for and not tear up what we have already done. Our neighbor across the lot over did a lot of wall drainage, walls, berms in his yard which helped a lot but still some leaks thru.
Failed drains via the developer as pooling on the side photo below. I’m ready for the mud to be gone! 7ECF8399-52A5-41DB-AB00-0369D29C970A.jpg1253D90D-EA2D-4A84-AD1D-F81F50F48F88.jpg
