Which suspension to go with for this extra weight?

Hello. So I need some expert opinion/recommendation:

I have a 2016 Tundra that I’m going to install a C4 front bumper, high clearance full swing out rear bumper and AT Overland Summit topper. So I know that’s going to be a ton of weight. I know I’m going to re-gear and get custom made leaf springs. Truck is daily driver for now but will be getting a Corrella or similar in the near future to have as a daily.

So the advice/recommendation I’m seeking is what suspension to go with it. I’m torn between FOXs, Kings and Blistens(don’t think Blistens will be able to handle the weight long term)

Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated. I’m in the Buy once Cry once camp. So I want to get the correct set up from the beginning if possible.

    Thanks
    Edsel

I know there are a ton of thread about what suspension to pick. But with the weight I’m adding to the truck I feel it will put it into a different class. I haven’t weighted the truck yet as I only have the C4 bumper waiting to be put on but I’m currently in the sandbox across the pond so it’s going to be a couple months before it gets installed. But I’m going to order the leaf springs after everything is on and bed is built out and gear is stowed so I can get a more accurate weight.

    Thanks in advance

Edit: Guess I should state what my plans for the truck will be: I plan to overland the truck to camp sites and use it as a base camp. Stay a day or two, but up to a week. Mostly forest service roads. Not going to be doing any rock crawling or full sends with it.

Not an expert by any means but this is what I have with the heavy springs option. Do not have it installed yet. Bought it around Christmas when they had a big sale. They have sales all the time. This month it's 15% off the lift kit with a free air compressor. I feel this is a very reliable suspension kit. Had an Ironman kit on an old Landcruiser and it was solid. It's comparable to ARB if not a little better.

I’ve got a lot of weight on my truck and have been very happy with 750lb springs on my front coilovers, doesn’t really matter too much about the shocks as you can get them valved (adjusted) to your liking.

For the rear I went through 4 sets of leaf springs before I finally went with custom ones based on the actual weight of the truck, not on what you’re calculated weight is. Finally happy with the rear. Shocks don’t really matter here as well as you can get them adjusted.

Unless you’re doing the fast stuff, then the shocks will matter more but you really can’t go wrong with any of the big recognizable names.

What coil overs are you running? And leaf springs?

I would look into OME, old man emu. Great option for those that run heavy/loaded.

Matt at MCM posted on Instagram that he has a bunch of ADS shocks in stock, if you don't want to wait 6+ months for some of the other big brands. He can probably help you put something together to work with your weight, too.

I was looking at the ADS also. It’s sounds like I need to get everything installed on the truck first and get a better idea of the weight prior to ordering any suspension components.

Look into Roadmaster Active Suspension HD.
Night and day difference and the ride feels planted.

Looking for similar advice on a suspension upgrade to support a DIY camper build on my regular cab long bed 4WD 2016 Tundra SR with the 5.7L V8. I'm getting a 36" high ARE DCU installed in a few weeks, and between the interior build, skid plates and sliders, passengers and cargo, I ultimately expect to get within a few hundred pounds of the 7200 lb GVWR. Not planning to do any towing.

I expect to be living out of this truck for most of the year(s) ahead, mostly in the western US, but occasionally ranging up into Canada and Alaska, down through Mexico and perhaps beyond. Not planning to do rock crawling in this truck, but I do want it to hold up well on light to moderate trails like rutted forest service roads, rocky desert tracks, gravel and washboard, so up as far as a 4 or maybe rarely a 5 on this 10 point trail rating system or a 3 Standard on this scale. I'm planning to add Total Chaos bed stiffeners to help manage the forces on the aluminum cap's double rear doors given the expected twist and flex of the truck's frame and bed rails, and I'm also having ARE build in some extra gussets in the cap frame (as they apparently do for search and rescue vehicles) but I know upgrading the suspension could be a big help too so I'm starting to research my options.

I currently have stock 18x8 wheels with Michelin LTX M/S2 P255/70R18 tires that still have most of their tread. I may eventually step up to LT tires, or at least an all-terrain P-rated set, but I want to stay close to stock size (probably not bigger than 33") and don't want to lift more than an inch or two because this thing will already have a fairly high center of gravity and be reasonably well armored below.

Just bought the truck about a month ago and it's got 164k miles on it. Maintenance records I got from the dealership show that the rear shocks were replaced a little over a year ago at 127k mi, but otherwise don't have any records of suspension service. It rides smoothly now unloaded, and I know I'll get a much better sense of my needs once I add all this weight (and height), but want to start narrowing down the possibilities a bit. So far, I'm thinking about doing the Roadmaster Active Suspension to reduce rear bounce and improve stability, and adding a rear (and front?) TRD sway bar.

My sense is I want to stick close to a linear profile on pistons, maybe tuned moderately progressive, but I know there are a lot of other variables, valving in particular. My payload should be fairly constant plus or minus a few hundred pounds, so I don't think I'll need the adjustability of airbags. Bearing in mind that I need to keep the budget for suspension components in check (under $2k, but hopefully significantly less) to reserve funds for all the other aspects of the build, what else would ya'll suggest I prioritize?

What shock do you have the 750lb spring on?
