Flat stock extensions are probably the easiest solution.

More like what @RobertD said. I did not put a spacer on the bumper side but a longer arm to push just the license plate out farther.

I did that the 1st time I washed my truck. The next day it was hot, I was able to pop it back into place with an interior trim tool. That plastic is very thin and flexy.

I tried using a trim tool but it seems short. I was thinking about putting heat on it but the middle section it doesn't seem to overlap like the sides do?

That's why I opened my hood, to push the mid section up to see if there was any play in it.

Appreciate the tip. I'll put some heat on it and give it a go anyways.

Yeah man. Nothing quite as frustrating as self induced compounding problems.

My hand slid down the windshield while trying to get the center cleaned and pushed that plastic down about 1/2 - 3/4". The plastic pops back into the gap under the windshield. I used the interior tool on that (looks like a plastic bent pribar). The rubber trim has a little lip that goes over the top of the plastic trim and sits in a tiny groove, I used a pick tool to get that back in.

I wonder if they screw with people driving in from another state that doesn't require a front plate. You know, as an excuse to perform a stop.

This bumper flips up but same idea. I don’t have spare metal laying around but I chopped up some thin wall square tube and folded it. Then drilled holes. The square edge is pushed hard back toward the bumper so it does not rotate when I try to flip the plate. (I should probably paint it too but you can’t even tell it’s different unless you kneel down to look)05A9E0E8-FA9D-43A1-993E-A3D94A2E6362.jpg

Ignore the fact that my plate is beat to shit it does sit flat. I bent the plate on the stock bumper somehow without damaging the bumper at all :notsure:

This is my plan. However, due to the tight clearance between the bolts and the winch, I'm thinking I'll have to drop the bumper again so I'm hesitant to bother with it anytime soon.

Worried. Worried is the feeling when everything goes smooth. Its that moment between looking around and finding the bolt you forgot at the halfway point.

I’m in talks with a local fab shop that @khooiii hooked me up with for a custom high clearance bumper that will keep all my fancy ass sensors in place :welder::sawzall:

edit: just saw your above post, you gonna get a tube style or a closed in style?

This is a part# for a front license plate bracket for SuperDuty trucks that have the optional factory warn winch...

Not sure if it would work for you or not, but I believe it connects to the bottom of the winch cover/frame. Anyhow, it may give you ideas.... I remember this being a big issue for SuperDuty guys that were looking to add the warn winch to their builds.

    Success!

Spent 15 minutes after work yesterday on it. Drilled the holes bigger and deeper (almost too deep), but it still wouldn't release. Between prying and using a punch it eventually started to separate. You can see that I actually had to break the plastic apart (light areas on the plastic). I think that in the process of heating the tabs to plastic weld them in place it also fused the plastic together in these places.
