How deep is too deep? Stalled

Don't try this on your new Tundra... Here's one stuck in CA floods on local TV news.

The alternator is down low in the engine compartment, lower than the intake.

 

Name me one vehicle that has an alternator higher than the intake. You can run a vehicle for some time without a working alternator, my best yet is 60 miles (plus the extra 15 provided by a relative with jump leads and a 5 minute hook up, three times, with his car).

 

Only when I put the driver's side in a very deep ditch.

Edit: Oops slipped back into right hand drive mode, obviously that'd be the passenger side.

Damn that sucks. I wonder how many cars and trucks are hitting the insurance claims in CA right now…

My buddy lost his TRX a few months ago to the Pacific Ocean trying to go through a (way too big) river mouth. Got stuck and tide came up quick. Funny enough, the beach in WA in that area is considered a road so insurance covered it. Amazing.

 

Nice to see CA got some rain, too bad it had to be that intense

 

Is it infamous "Gen3 Tundra leak" that caused a flood?

 

I wonder how many people intentionally leave their vehicle in situations that allow for an insurance claim.

I've often wondered how people are smart enough to make enough money to buy nice stuff ... but are stupid enough to wreck their nice stuff.

The Ozzy Man vid made me laugh enough for watery eyes.

 

I've known people who "accidentally" do things for insurance claims. Regularly. Like with their "phone".

On a separate note, hopefully no one died. You can always get a new truck.

A Taco is pretty close with the intake opening in the wheel well. I wouldn’t take my truck through deep water.

 

TOO deep only by a foot or so.

 

Best to use tide tables. Not only for claming....heh

 

I use my kayak for deep water.................

 

They prolly wish they'd built more reservoirs now.........
