So glad I went with 17” and more tire. Them OEM 20” are stiff. Reminds me of my lowered Honda days

    FWIW,

Cooper just verified that the AT3 is still made in the USA, I specifically asked about the 4S

I have the same exact set of tires and I love them for on-road driving which I do 98% of the time. For my use, smaller rims don’t corner as good as 20”s.

Plus the 20” allows for a slightly bigger tire while still being p-rated.

My 20 Method 305s will be mounted on the new 295/65/20 Toyo RT Trails next week. I’ll post pics on Friday.

    Hi,

I tried to browse through the thread but no luck:

I got the 18” TRD off road rims which, shape wise I don’t mind, I just can’t stand the bicolour.

has anyone ever had them painted? I think they would be way better all black. Is it even worth it, $ wise of might we just as well buy new rims?

saw some guys even Plastidip their rims on YouTube but I can’t imagine that being a long term solution

thanks guys and happy new year

I thought about painting mine as well. I think the process would be straightforward with lots of light coats to make it look good after sanding. They have lots of little dips and holes where sanding might be a challenge. I you paint over the clearcoat without prepping the surface, the paint will probably flake off over time. This could be a good option for media blasting to take all the original paint off first.

I switched my wheels because I was getting bigger tires and needed a wider rim, 8” for the OE wheels is a bit tight for the larger tires but lots of guys are doing that. Rubbing can occur on the inner side of the tire to the steering and suspension components when using bigger tires, some have added spacers to move the wheels outward. This is because of the offset on these wheels is +60.

If you are using the original size tire, then I would say that you can’t make it look any uglier only better! Just my opinion :)

I was thinking maybe black vinyl like some of the tacoma rims. There’s several people selling overlay kits for the 3rd gen tacoma wheels.

The offroad 18’s seem more intricate to do by hand and a razor blade though.

Thanks for getting back to me, you might be right. Eventually I would like a set of 35x11.5 on there and spending time on this forum, I think they would fit on this rim. Or am I missing something?

sorry, first time truck owner (coming from Amsterdam where all cars are like go karts haha)

We have family in Holland so we do enjoy the go carts as well! :)

If you plan on running a tire that big on the OE wheels, just get your tire shop to test fit them and see what happens. If they don't work, you can try stepping down a size, etc...

I have 23 TRD Sport, and rims are 20" stock. I just ordered an Icon Stage 2 w/ Tubular UCA's and TRD pro front axels. Should be installed in about a week. I am having a hard time deciding if I want to stay with the stock 20's and do a 35x12.5 or go with 18's on 35x12.5 I've never done a lift, and rims. I'm so confused on offset, and what that should be for this truck. If anyone can help it would be appreciated.

The rims I was looking at are Fuel Rebel 6 18x9, and it says offset is 20. I am not sure how that offset would look on this truck.

This is mine with a 8.5” 0 offset. A 9” with 20 offset would be in towards the wheel well by 14mm more

looks good, one of the few tires that size with gaining "only" 10 lbs per corner.

    expensive though!!

How much did those tires cost you and did you have to get a leveling kit installed?

From my readings, the 275/60/20 would be fine with stock and the maximum size you go without rubbing and additional mods (level, lift kit). So just curious, why did you add the leveling kit? The reason I ask is I am debating if I just go with just tires without a leveling kit or add a leveling kit. I would like to go without one as the quotes I am getting is around $600-$700 and I figure that can go elsewhere (i.e. bed cover).

with a zero offset, they will poke alot. typically you want around 18 or 20 for barely any poke at all.
