Inbox Zero is where it's at. I can't look at my wife's email or I get stressed TF out. My personal inbox is always cleared out except for anything that I need to work on within the coming week, otherwise it gets snoozed until a couple days before it's due. I tried doing the same at work, but having started the new job in March and getting the deluge of onboarding bullshit, I never kept up on that. I should probably spend some time going over inbox rules for the automated crap and filing the stuff I may need down the road.

I used to do it the same as y'all. It's freeing not worrying where and when to archive email, or even when to delete something old. Outlook search works great if I have to find something, and I don't mark items read unless I've dealt with them, which is usually within a day. A 'dirty' inbox for me is one with more than a few unread emails; everything else has gotten somewhat invisible. If something requires longer term attention, I put an item in Tasks (an Office 365 / Teams thing) and track it there.

 

You can change that setting in Outlook.

This is how I roll with Outlook. I only have a few folders and everything else either gets deleted or stays in my inbox until it purges.

But.. I don't work from my desk, I'm usually only at my desk in the morning to check emails and powerhouse status. Then to put my time in at the end of the day.

Don't look at mine! We get a bunch of company emails that I can't spend anymore time on other than hitting delete. Board meetings, commissioner meetings, internal newsletters, IT issues/ outages etc..

When it comes to my personal email, clean and organized! Can't stand it any other way.

 

. As others stated, those are the counts in the folders. I bet there are another 5k emails buried in my folder structure that I cannot itemize.

Kind of scary how our OCD aligns. Fifty is my limit too.

Comparing folder count size…let’s see here. I’m all about separating into different .pst files

• Inbox: Primary folder plus 6 subfolders with rules set up for sorting
• Team and Project pst: five folders with 49 subs
• Systems pst: 32 folders with 186 subs
• Active accounts pst: 106 folders
• Inactive account pst: 58 folders

Plus a pst file (by year) for all emails (and IM conversations) sent and deleted.

 

My personal email folders, nice and simple. The bulk folder is mostly spam.

 

How does he have GV set up? I think you can fully VoIP it through the app and make a dedicated ring tone there - if he's got it set to forward to his normal phone number then yeah it'd be whatever his normal ring tone is.

I’m still baffled by the people that think they will find more buyers here than CL, Offerup or another local resource. Either the seller is an idiot or they’re hiding something and hope they get paid to ship their rig to FL sight unseen.

 

I just had a buddy call mine while testing different settings and it all rang with the default iOS ring tone. So dumb. Google apps are dying left and right.
