A few weeks ago I took some measurements when my trailer was hooked up and I was surprised to see that the front fender height stayed the same. The rear only dropped about 1.75 inches.

My trailer is a 17 ft. toy hauler that I use as a camper and no toys. It is fairly light @ 3k lbs. and I do not know the tongue weight. I guess the rear springs took most of the weight and not enough to start moving the front end up? I am thinking of adding airbags or the spring helper for when I tow.

Doesn't your truck have about 2" of rake? I wouldn't change anything.

1.5 of rake. When I hooked up the back was down about 1/2 inch or so. I might just leave it

There will not be a lot of weight transferred to the front without a LDH…and your setup doesn’t really require one.

Think of the front as a pivot point. A teetor totter has a pivot point in the middle since there's only one point of contact on the ground (the middle). A truck has two axles creating two points of contact (yes I know technically 4 since there's 4 tires). Therefore, you push down on one, without a significant amount of weight, and the other works as a pivot and wouldn't move much.

You're overthinking this trailer thing. It's ~3klbs. Hook up and go enjoy it.

I’ve measured these distances right after hooking up and then again after driving. They change a bit after things have “shaken out”. Having said that, with your light trailer I wouldn’t add any new gear unless you find the towing experience unpleasant.

Your rear shouldn’t drop almost 2” with 300lbs of tongue weight. My guess is the trailer is way out of balance due to the mods that have been made.

My trailer pulls great although I do have more weight up front. I added one lower kitchen cabinet in the front and I have a mini-split HVAC compressor on the tongue. I have an Anderson WDH that I am going to add just to help some.
