I'm aware of the DOTD regulation for marker lights when a vehicle exceeds a certain width. My question is, the TRD Pro doesn't look any wider than the other Tundras except the Pro has a slightly wider fender flare. Does the Pro have longer control arms or something? Is this the only reason for the marker lights (slightly wider fender flares?). It's obvious when looking at the Raptor because it is so much wider than the standard F150.

Pro has wider tires so that’s the reason for wider flares and larger track width.

At what point are markers required though? I am seeing 80" so wouldnt the standard Tundra need them?

I read that the Pro didn't need them but got them anyway since the Raptor and TRX have them.

Thats what I assumed. Everyone has them on their Tacoma/4Runner around here cause its super cool so Toyota probably figured they should jump on the bandwagon.

Anything over 80.5 width. They added the wider flares to make it “necessary”

The marker lights are good for another 30 hp to the wheels.

Aside from requirement, I think the marker lights look appropriate on Raptors and TRXs due to their size, on the Tundra not so much, and certainly not on 4Runners or Tacomas
