Anyone tried to switch out the cup holder portion of the 2022/2023 Tundra 1794 / Platinum / Capstone / (maybe others?) for the normal configuration (without the cover)? I'd much rather have the additional storage in front of the cup holders than a cover for the front cup holders that I'll never use.

FYI - I started a thread and asked a similar question a while back. There were quite a few replies with part numbers etc. I would like the side by side vs the one in front like the Plat. has. In the end, after reading the replies I got, I decided it wasn't worth the headache or expense. Let me know if you discover different.

I'm with you on that one Donas. Would rather have side by side. But...I did see a review of TRD PRO that had side by side and the drivers cup holder floor was raised up. The reviewer said it was so high that tall cups, like a fast food big chug, would be top heavy and might tip over. That would be bad.

Yup, there was a reply or two in my thread saying the same thing. I believe this is a classic case of "the grass is greener on the other side of the fence" LOL. I'm keeping what I have for now, I suppose.

Yea, I would not spend much time or $$ to switch it. We are getting used to which is drivers and which is passengers cup holder...after a few "oops I just drank your pop" events :)

Apparently you're too young to remember that once upon a time your cupholder fit not so snug to the crack between your window and door card panel.

That made me smile....I do remember that, lol. And the car had **gasp, while clutching pearls**...an ashtray!

Why, thank you!! Given that I'm about to turn 54, I'll heartily accept the comment about being too young! I have, however, had my cupholders hanging from the window slots just above the window cranks and can even remember when having an 8-track player or A/C was a luxury. :)

Thanks everyone for the feedback. @Donas , I read through the other post you started and agree; given the pain of converting it and the short driver's cupholder on the side-by-side version, I guess I'll deal with the useless door and a little less storage.
