How to secure pelican cases in the truck bed?

I’m thinking of putting several pelican or equivalent cases in the truck bed but do not want them sliding around.

Looking for any suggestions on the best way to secure them?

 

2x8 in the factory bed slots and then you can put perpendicular smaller cuts off the 2x8 to match the size of your cases...

...and if you paint it black it'll match the bedliner!!

Vertical, horizontal, permanent, temporary, your ideal case size, how often you anticipate wanting to access them, is theft a major concern... seems like there are a lot of variables.

Fair point. I'd say a couple cases of different sizes -- probably a long one that would fill most of the width of the truck bed to store all the way in the back, and another box to store on the side. Easily removable. Theft is not my biggest concern as I have both a toneau cover (MX4) and the OEM tail gate pop lock.

Truth be told, I love the Pelican BX series (the BX135 or BX255 in particular for the back of the bed, and a BX80 for the side). And Pelican apparently has awesome cross-bed and side wall mounts that should fit the bill. But I really don't want to pay Pelican prices, so I guess I'm looking for other options. Even with my military discount, I'm looking at a thousand dollars easily for a couple cases and a couple mounts.

I keep a Plano in the bed with ratchet straps, air compressor, tire repair, blankets, Sven saw, heavy duty zip ties, bug spray, lighter, etc. I just use a carabiner and zip ties to keep it from sliding around and smacking into the front of the bed. It really doesn’t move around at all even though it’s not tightly secured. It’s kept out of sight by my TCUSA cover.

It’s not very instagrammable, but it is a $4 solution that works for me. Quick and easy to remove when needed.

Would a bed mat keep it from sliding around? I don't have one, but was thinking about getting one to keep things from sliding

 

Yes, they greatly mitigate sliding around under normal driving conditions. At least mine does, it’s the OEM one. Very sticky.

 

I have a bedrug on top of the linex.
It greatly reduces slide.But not enough for me.

DIY bed floor drawers are what I prefer.

 

I have an OEM bed mat and nothing in the bed slides around at all. It will only really move if there is major vibration like on dirt road washboards. Otherwise, the normal acceleration, braking and turns don't affect the cargo. Although most of my stuff is on the heavier side, I can see having something very light might move or even flip over if tall enough.

Have you considered Milwaukee Packout? They have different mounting plate options which can be secured in many ways. There are even aftermarket mounting plates if you prefer. And there are tons of different sizes to choose from. They lock in easily and securely. Here's my current setup for ideas if you like:

I thought long and hard about either DIY drawers, or a Decked or similar system. But none seem relatively easy to remove which is a requirement.

 

Hmm. Can it be removed simply by popping the box off the hinges, or do you have unscrew the hinges/mount to get it out?

 

I hadn't, but these are the kinds of alternatives I'm hoping to hear about. Thanks for sharing this idea. Definitely, one to consider.

 

I guess I'm lucky and don't have wheel wells to deal with due to the fact that I have the Trail Ed. It allows me to just have a straight 48" wide floor that slides in/out on a track on each side with pipe legs in the middle that will unscrew from the flanges. Used plastic bedliners cut to cover both the first and second level. Plastic tubs and a pole with a hook to pull em out. Simple, secure, affordable, EZ, and durable.

Im a new tundra owner spent the week looking for storage solutions for straps, jumper cables and the like..

didnt want to cut the floor up on my crew max or have a box sliding around in my bed..

 

I installed the pelican cross-bed mount in mine with the BX135 box. I will take some pictures and post them. Overall, I am happy with the mount and system. One issue I had is the bracket that comes down to meet the box seems to be too short to use all the hardware supplied. The top two bolts wouldn't fit and still have enough length to reach the box mount. One bolt seems to hold it fine but time will tell. I bought my mount on Amazon warehouse deals at a bit of a savings.
