I bought my 2023 Tundra last week with the kit wrapped into the deal. It gets installed next week and as a first time truck owner, I have some questions.

I know the install calls for deleting the fogs and also removes the skid plate. I've read that you can request to keep the fogs - is there anyway to keep the skid plate?

    Is there anything I'm missing?

    Thanks in advance everyone!

To answer the questions you asked, you can “not authorize” them to take your fog lights out. Tell them they will be used off road only. You can also tell them not to put the sway bar spacers on allowing you to keep your skid plate. Several posts and threads about these particular questions.

Wish I had seen this thread before I took delivery. I had them install the lift as part of the sale and I have no idea why I didn't have the presence for mind to tell them to keep the OEM parts for me.

If I plan on getting this lift kit should I skip the TRD OR package and just get the standard suspension?

Not sure but OR gives you rear locker, off road features, better rear shocks as you'll be keeping those...

You reckon having the OR pkg will give a much better resale value? I really don’t plan on going off-road much if at all. I just want the lift for the looks and fitting 35s to be very honest

Do you even have a choice to get one with or without Off-road package? Usually there's not that many trucks to choose from and most get packages that come with the truck that they like the most..

I don't think that Off-road package would really matter with the resale value... I personally would get OR package because your ride would be a little bit better with the Trd rear shocks than with regular non-Trd shocks.

I have regular shocks and it's not that great... Ride is bouncy and handling sucks. I will eventually end up upgrading the shocks to something better, probably Trd shocks (to keep the warranty hopefully), but now it's not even possible to buy the Trd shocks new.. No stock available, Used only. You won't have this issue with bad ride entirely as the Trd lift will give you good front shocks, so that would help a lot, but rear will still be your stock shocks... So it would be better to have Trd shocks.

I'm not a suspension expert, so not sure how important rear locker is or if it's useful etc...

Yeah the availability of trucks will definitely come into play when purchasing. TRD OR is basically a $3k premium over non TRD OR so not too crazy of a difference. But since I plan on upgrading to the TRD lift it seems like a waste of money to get the TRD OR. With the lockers I can see the value if I do get a 4x4. Did you drive a TRD OR and standard? How big of a difference did you feel?

I have an OR. Doing lift currently - some off roading on the Washington coast / logging roading. The advantage of the OR, IMO, is the locking rear differential and off-road setting that come on the truck - especially the TRD lift kit works with all the cameras and safety sense features. I am also using the 20” TRD wheels that came on mine with the 35 Ridge Grapplers that I am putting on vs buying new wheels.

does it increase resale? Maybe or maybe not. Depends on buyer. Probably less ORs being made and available could help? But you are also paying for it at purchase- so not sure you make your money back on it if you don’t need / want the features I mentioned.

I guess I will let fate decide. If the truck comes with 4x4 and TRD OR then it is what it is. Seems like not much point in the TRD OR if it’s a 4x2 which I’m also fine with. This will be my work truck with a 6.5 ft bed and I don’t ever anticipate doing any type of off-roading. But then again once I get a truck that’s capable of doing those activities I might start adventuring. IDK just so very torn about these options and if it’s worth paying for. One thing I realized is to get lunar rock it has to be equipped with the TRD OR and that’s my first choice in color.

The OR does seem to provide a better ride due to the changes to the suspension over stock IMO. Not planning on reselling this vehicle so my criteria are a bit different it sounds like. But just double check you don't want the 4x4 for bad weather?

I live in SoCal and don’t plan on doing any off-road activities, at least not at the moment, so I’m not desperate for a 4x4. It does seem like most TRD OR cars in the area are already equipped with 4x4
