I know there have been a few threads about A/C, but I just wanted to see if this behavior was normal not a debate of it's good, bad etc. My A/C seems to be blowing fairly warm air when set to 60 and it's under 50 degrees outside. When the blower is maxed out, it blows harder than on low but sounds muffled within the dash and doesn't seem to blow hard. If I turn it to Low then the temp drops dramatically and the air volume doubles, maybe triples with the muffled sound in the dash stopping. I'm not positive the temps are accurate, but I tried a thermal imager and it said the temp coming out the vent was 77 when set to 60 and 60 when set to low.

My truck has been in the shop twice for A/C issues and I'm wondering if it needs to go in again or if this is expected performance for some reason.

If it's set to 60 it's probably running heat. Heat in auto will go out mostly at your feet. When you set it to Lo it will run the air conditioning and blow out the front vents.

Thanks for the reply. To clarify, I don't ever use auto mode and the vents are set to blow out of the upper fronts.

I'm hoping someone can try this out in their 22 and let me know. I guess the specific questions are - is the air warm set at 60 and does it blow much harder on high setting at Low vs 60.

For some reason when on heat it directs air flow more through the rear vents on the center console, I imagine it’s by design as it will more evenly heat the cabin? I’m not entirely sure

So is 60 considered heat? Should the air be almost 80 degrees? Last question, if I have the vents set to the upper vents, is that why it sounds like muffled blowing in the dash and so much harder on Low?

In your case with 50 degree ambient temp it’s probably on heat, I just notice my truck does this with heat, muffled sound in the blower box and lots of air coming out rear vents
