Are the back catalytic converters the same as the front ones? Curious why the downstream 02 sensors aren’t behind the back cats. Any ideas?

I asked my cat; she just stared at me.

But really: the front ones have more of the precious metals and do all the heavy lifting, if I recall correctly.

I’m guessing you are right and thats probably why the downstream O2 sensor is behind the front one and not the back one.
