If you are installing the Pro leds then I would leave it as is. It wouldn't be an issue until you sell the truck if you ever do.

Hopefully I will get one in a few weeks. It has been a royal pita because there communication sucks. I found out 2 weeks ago that mine never got sent o er the the reimbursement department after I sent my documents in. I put Morimotos in mine. Did you do the install yourself?

Nice man , same for me , payed also the harness.
Took the truck last day to dealer for regular maintenance and I asked them to waive the recall since no longer needed . Looks like they reached out to Toyota on this to see if they allow the waiver and waiting for an answer . I showed the dealer the check from Toyota and all so hopefully they will just waive the recall , Toyota were asking about the harness based on what dealer told me … we shell see what they say

It is good to hear about successful claims. I’ve learned a ton from the site and happy I was able to help some other members out.

So I had the recall work done, and all they did was to reduce the brightness of the lo beams (and most likely hi as well). Now my truck is dangerous to drive with the hi beams on. It reduces my short range illumination so much that I can't see the white line on the edge of the road and 5-20' in front is completely black.

If I wanted to upgrade to the LEDs, do I need to have that recall work reversed? And do you think Toyota would reimburse me for the lights, as the recall workaround makes my truck dangerous?

They didn't reduce the brightness. They installed relays.

I changed mine long time and got reimbursed for the harness and factory led headlights.
Last month took truck to dealer for service and told me it has the recall , I told them it is already taken care of as I have led lights now and Toyota already reimbursed me for it. They opened a case with Toyota and they said they still need to change the harness . I told the dealer to not touch it since if they do the iharness will no longer work .
Dealer put a note in their system about it and that is it .

seems to me that Toyota recall and reimbursement departments are not in sync.

I kept a copy of the check from Toyota in case something came up in the future …

My service tech said they reduced the brightness by changing the location of power coming out of the already installed relay. Thus reducing the voltage going to the lo beams while the hi beams are active.

I'm gonna have to keep this in mind for the major service intervals cause...yeah...don't need the messing up an already fixed setup

I sure as hell hope your tech just didn't know what he was talking about. I can't imagine that's the "actual" fix as dimming would run into DOT issues. If that's truly the case I would go with them "undoing" (Which they 99% won't do) and getting the iharness + LEDs just from a safety POV. M2C. GL

Does anyone know what the CCR (Cost, Condition, Remedy) document is? Mine was denied because they said that they did not receive one.

Hmmmmm. Thinking about putting something under the hood that says no recall now. Maybe I’ll add a light up disco ball also so they don’t miss it.

I called 2 weeks ago and they said it was denied because there was no cause and remedy document. They were supposed to call back and never did. On the document upload section, it says to upload at least one of these documents, not all 3.

All I uploaded was Proof of Ownership, Receipt of lights and CC receipt. We will see what happens. I had a big discussion last time with one of the reps. They still prefer to pay a tech to do the recall than to pay for the lights.

Same here...thats all I uploaded. The reimbursement is cheaper than the labor charges I would think. There is no consistency in their process. Some guys are getting reimbursed after changing the lights 2 or 3 months ago....which does not meet the reimbursement requirements.

My dealership called me today (a real person not a robocall) with urgent information about a recall on my 2020 Tundra. Once I use up free ToyotaCare services I’m switching to a non-dealership location for service.

I already told them that I decline the recall service and Toyota has paid to install LED lights last time I was at the dealership. So no halogens, no new wiring needed.

Some here took theirs in for service a few weeks ago and told them not to do the recall and they did it anyway. I think he already upgraded to LEDs. I would have been pissed.

This is why I refuse to go to the dealer. Mine is a lease and I was doing the free ToyoCare, but once I decided to keep it because of the crap that was going on with car prices, I stoped going. At that point they had done 1 oil change and 2 rotations. Mind you the wheel lug nuts were put on with a 1" impact gun. When I went in recently for a warranty battery exchange, they took it upon them selfs to do an oil change with out me asking for one. I had done one recently and I use 5w-30 not that water they use. So now I am reaching the 5k mark and replacing the oil.

Well that was quick. I was turned down again. They even referenced the old case number and said that any future cases would be close right away without a response.

Dealership called again Saturday morning, I informed the nice lady that repairs were made before the recall and I no longer have halogen headlights so the fire risk has been eliminated. I asked her to note my file that recall services are completed for my vehicle. She said she would, fingers crossed I’m done.

My dealer opened a case with Toyota and they still told them to do it . I told him not to touch it and they took a note from their end that I refused the recall. I kept a copy of the reimbursement check from Toyota just in case . Funny they paid for the iharness too . They seem to have a big disconnect between there reimbursement and recall teams ….

Oh, I did. Didn't make one bit of a difference. It's was like I was talking to a damn machine. No care in the world as to my concerns. Told me that Toyota doesn't consider the LEDs as an acceptable repair. I then asked, if it's not then why is Toyota paying other claims. He refused to answer because he knows calls are monitored or like I said, doesn't care. Looks like Toyota is going down the shitter in exchange for profits. Wonder if Mike Sweers has anything to do with customer service dept, like he did with the 3rd gen. Both are lacking.

So if LEDs were just ordered in the last month, I assume they won't cover it? Would only be feasible if you did the repair before the recall was announced? When was the fix actually made available to customers to have completed? I remember a letter saying it was going to be recalled but fix wasn't ready yet at some point I believe.

They are inconsistent with their process. People are getting reimbursed that replaced theirs recently which does not meet the reimbursement requirements. To be eligible, they had to be replaced before the recall was issued. Their whole process pisses me off....I have filed 3 times during the last year.
