I had an interesting conversation with my dealer yesterday when I went to see him about getting rid of my 22 Platinum because of the crappy front seat comfort (he'll have a good allocation after the 1st of the year for me to look at) I laughing told him I had a CAT shield on order since July 3rd and that I wouldn't have the vehicle when it ever came in!

He said that I didn't need one ... that his service folks etc have said that the 22's CATs are 'higher in the engine bay...making them too hard to get to". Therefore they leave all their 22's out on the lot at night. Now I don't know anything about the underside of my Tundra ... but does this ring true?

    Thanks....

Don't trust any dealer. If it wasn't an issue, plates wouldn't be made for the 22 model year.

Not true at all…they sit there low enough and exposed and waiting to be taken

I'd go with not a true statement. I was just under my '23 last weekend installing running boards and wouldn't have any issue getting to them.

This issue isn't a big deal in my part of town that I'm aware of, but for the price/hassle ratio I'll likely be ordering a plate myself.

Nope, the dealer I purchased one from in October in Texas said they had 6 22’s cats stolen in one night.

Someone correct me if wrong. The ‘22 has 4 cats, 2 up high near the engine and 2 further downstream and at risk.

Like I said ... I found it an interesting statement. Maybe they don't steal CATs in Kansas! Thanks
