TPMS Sensor

I'm getting new wheels and tires. My truck is 5.75 yrs old. Anyway to check the TPMS sensor battery life? No point replacing them if battery is good ($65-$75 each), but also no point re-using them if they are 75% thru its life.

 

I am not aware of a way to check battery life. But my 2013 Camry still has the original sensors through two sets of tires and 120k miles for what it’s worth.

 

Yeah, my 2006 corvette still on the original TPMS sensors. 16 yrs and 116+ kmiles.

 

Techstream is the only way to get anything close to that. However my 07 showed no data for battery voltage.

Here is a screenshot from several months ago. TPMS ID1 is the only sensor that was in range here. All the others it can’t see as they were on my back porch and I was in the garage doing some testing. I wanted only one sensor to be seen.

With all four one the truck yours might show a value for battery voltage. You would have to get a copy of Techstream obviously to try and see.

 

Mine read the same; one reads “no data” and 4 of them say “over”.

 

Regarding battery condition, it's been awhile since I've used my Autel MaxiTPMS tool, but I think it tells you if the battery is good or bad. Might not give you a percentage of life remaining, just whether it's ok or not. If you don't have the tool any tire shop could read the sensor in a matter of seconds.
