I was looking at the hood scoops for Tundras (scoop not bulge) and looking at how they mount. I wonder if it would be possible to mount one using neodymium magnets? My idea would involve attaching steel flared nuts with felt /rubber gaskets to the scoop using JB Weld, and then placing the magnets on the underside of the hood at each nut location. A 1.25 ' disk magnet will hold approx. 60 lbs. This would allow a no drill installation and removal if wanted.

Underside of scoop showing the mount locations

    Don't do it

Too much risk of it flying off and landing on someone or the vehicle behind you.

    Terrible idea.

OP, Steve, it's a kuul idea but really not practical or safe. Do you really want the really fake hood scoop look?

Just drill it. I’m sure you will be hyper focused taking on that project and when you pull it off, you can brag about doing it.

If only you realized the amount of force exerted when traveling at speed.
    Just drill the damn holes.

Magnets need to be flat, thin things that don't catch wind if you want them to stay on your truck. This would be a large wind-catching sail. Personally I wouldn't do it, unless I could make the scoop functional with lighting somehow, the awesome aesthetics alone aren't enough to make me drill and magnets aren't an answer to me.

Or…. Drink more and try to figure out how to attach this on top of the scoop. Just need a little downforce to keep it in place. 85E86725-24C1-40A0-891F-05C3CAB2DB3F.jpg

Many a great idea have come from alcohol consumption.
It’s the grade of feedback you get that makes the difference.
You’re getting high grade feedback here.

Well at least I run them by here when sober and before I do them. Back to hitting the sauce over Christmas weekend to decide if I want to drill my hood. I think I will have the scoop wrapped vs painted.

If he starts right now there’s going to be problems.
However, this is a Monday night.
May be as sober as he gets.

Or I’m thinking of pulling mine altogether and getting a solar panel to put over the holes. It would be more functional at least
