Bad speaker?

Sound like a speaker failure?

While I went in to sound settings to see if I can take signal away from the speaker to rule out the head unit it stopped after 3 or 4 minutes. I'll see if it comes back. Interference maybe?

 

It is intermittent

Yeah I've never heard one like that either. I'm wondering if it was interference but it was only that speaker. It is all aftermarket audio components for reference.

 

I’d look at cables and connections. Wiggle stuff and see if you can recreate. Or leave it alone and hop it never comes back.

It came back and I figured it out...at least I think lol.

 

Its a bad RCA cable at the amp. I unplugged the RCA from the front speaker connection at the amp and it stopped. I moved the rear RCA to the front and no issues. I plugged the bad RCA into the rear position and that noise followed to the rear speaker. Easy enough to determine the cause. Now to find some quality RCA's. I'll replace all of them since I have to pull the head unit. They are several years old since they came out of my other truck. I'm looking at either Stinger or Fosgate twisted pairs most likely.

Thanks......I saw something about those online last night. I'll look more into them.

 

Hot take: fix the situation for free and have a more focused soundstage-> remove all rear speakers, use the good cables for the fronts. If you like pure spl, tell me to take a hike. But if you prefer quality over quantity, remove rears.

 

Replaced all of the RCA cables with Stinger 6000 series.....noise gone!
