What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

Oil or water, what’s it taste like?

 

Pretty much replaced everything on the suspension at this point. No more e-brake dash light on either.

 

What's the size of the bolts that are on your truck's LBJs? The bigger ball joints use a bolt with a 17mm or 19mm head

 

mine have a 17mm bolt

Broke the DS door handle last week.

Against better judgement, went with scamazon. Fit is perfect, color is a little off and the sticker is red.


For as often as I take off my door panels, Im glad to have a bag of the plastic door clips as I tend to break one every so often.

 

The color-matched OEM part is only a couple bucks more, is there any reason you didn't go with that one?

 

Passenger cam seal, IIRC, the only path to exit is down by the harmonic balancer. I posted pics of the path of travel on here for someone, but hell if I can find it now.

 

If that's it at least it's not as bad a job on his truck as the 05-06's to repair. @RUSTYNUTS I have the cam seals and can mail them to you if you want? I bought them for mine and they said they looked good. I'm figuring by the time mine needs another timing belt, these will be so old I won't want to use them.

 

Little project in the works. I haven't done much lately and felt the need to modify and or break stuff.

 

Easiest way to tell is to look behind the passenger side timing belt cover, I'd think.

@Tundra2 posted a pic I used of the front of the block with no timing covers on, and it made it a bit clearer how/why it would leak down the front of the block and dump out around the area behind the alt/ps pump, between those and the HB. It's pissing me off I'm not able to find it.

The little stickers? If so, they are, I bought OEM replacements because my stickers were faded. Yes, I'm that vain. It pisses me off when the only thing that doesn't look new in my truck is the damn lock stickers, and nobody makes little vinyl re-pops.

 

You coulda just had some custom ones done up.

 

Just seemed like a hell of a lot of work to try and get done, and who knows if the adhesive would hold, or what other probs might come up.

And we see at least a couple people per year breaking off door handles, they are getting a little old ... and it wasn't too costly for them... so I said 'screw it', and next time I have my door panels off, I'll install.

 

Attacking this tomorrow.

when i drove the truck around yesterday and the day before everything worked great (aside from headlights.) i'm thinking about cutting my headlight housings and stuffing other lights into em. I'm due for housings anyway, so if i mess up, im not out much.

You’re saying the leak I’ve got requires the timing belt to be removed to change the seal? You positive about that? You’re breaking my heart here man.
What is it about the ‘05-06 that makes the repair more difficult?

 

Are those small enough that they will fit inside though? 7” is huge

 

I've fit bigger things in smaller spaces. The tricky bit is if i find some projectors i like, ballasts are a little above my pay grade.

 

the green is where I thought it was coming out. The red is the tail of a small stream from an unknown source. @shifty` you said passenger cam seal but it’s comin down the drivers side. Is there a reason to assume passenger? Are they more prone to leak or ?

 

Disclaimer: it started with a very minor leak, maybe a week ago. Now it’ll drop probably about an ounce per 5 minutes at idle. Got real bad, real quick

 

Pull the fan and clean what you can so you can get a better look while its dripping.

 

Both mine and a recent member's were on the driver's side. This guy shows pictures of what I'm almost certain are cam seal leak on driver side:

There was one more member who showed stuff just like mine, but I can't find the thread after 3-4 minutes, I give up.

Anyway, this is where I would expect to see oil leaking if it was the bank 2/pass side cam seals - down the block, on the body of the tensioner etc.:
