Hello everyone! Looking for answers from my alignment peeps. So I recently installed a remanufactured steering rack from oreillys in July, installed and aligned went great. After a few off-road trips I noticed that my steering wheel wasn’t centered anymore so I took to alignment shop and they pointed out that when you do a full turn to the left while in motion then bring it back to the centered pinpoint it actually straightens up(steering wheel stays centered) but when you do a full turn to the right the steering wheel will misalign itself back again (steering wheel stays crooked to the right). Truck runs straight and alignment is good just steering wheel isn’t centered. They said it might be do to the remanufactured rack and they suggested going for a OEM New Toyota rack instead for re-installment which will cost me about $900 + installment fee just want to see if I can get some answers before going that direction. Thank you!

Dosent make sense to me unless there is some defect in the new rack you installed. I cant speak on steering rack quality from a big box parts store.

Where did you take it for alignment? Centering steering wheel is basic stuff so that is a bit concerning they could not do that.

I took back to the same guy that installed the rack, local guy in town. Might have to try and get a second opinion from another shop

only other thing I can think of is the rack bushings. If they are bad it could impact alignment and function, too much play and movement perhaps.

I actually upgraded to polyurethane bushings when installing the remanufactured rack and has zero play. that is why it doesn’t make sense ‍♂️‍♂️

What gaurantee is there that it was remanufactured correctly? OEM new and reman parts are sometimes very different in terms of quality. I'd never buy a reman'd alternator
