Do the nannies activate brake lights?

I'm wondering if the electronic nannies activate the brake lights when they either:
    • slow the vehicle noticeably when cruise control is activated and someone slower is in front of you or
    • the "panic" braking kicks in as it thinks you don't see or didn't react to stopped or much slower traffic you're approaching above a certain rate of closure
Seems to me that it would be a big hazard if the brake lights are not activated for either of these as I've had the truck slow pretty drastically "on its own" when these electronics decide they need to save me from myself or whatever the parameters are...So, do the brake lights come on?

Really? Well, that seems rather unsafe, not to mention counterintuitive.

They do activate with any “braking” application. They do not activate with coasting to slow down with cruise.

Ah, I see now. I retract my previous scorn and contempt for the engineers responsible.

These guys, the engineers at Toyota, they’re pretty good at engineering.

Yes, as usual I jump directly to sarcasm and blame only to realize I didn't know what I didn't know.
