Ok, I'm missing something when it comes to removing my tires...

If I get a flat on the side of the road, the tire iron removes the lug nuts with no problem (I think it's a 3/4" socket). Then I pull out the key for the lock nuts which seems to have a 7/8"male end to it. What the heck? I have the tools at home to take it off with my impact driver but is there some kind of easy adapter I'm missing for roadside? I feel like I should be prepared for the worst just in case and I don't feel like taking my impact driver with me everywhere I go.

My 4 way has both 3/4 and 7/8

Maybe get a 4 way? only 10-15 bucks maybe? It's all I've ever carried, now in both trucks

Not that anyone carries one, but a torque wrench would be ideal to have when changing wheels.

Wait till you're doing this a couple of years down the road, in the middle of winter, in the middle of nowhere...and the stupid POS "lock nut" strips, or you just can't get it off for one reason or another. Gonna time a fun time!

Unless you're paranoid about your wheels really getting stolen, get rid of this garbage and buy yourself 4x OEM log nuts.

Just carry a 22mm or 13/16" and you'll be fine.

I stopped using the wheel locks years ago. But just an fyi loosen the wheel lock first when taking it off and put it on last when reinstalling

    Lots of stuff!
I would also carry some tire sealant and a little compressor, I have a kit in the BMW and the Mini, no spare tires in those cars! If the lug nuts are rusted solid or the lifted truck is too high for the jack, this could get you home.

I actually carry the harbor freight torque wrench in my truck. Had a couple of flats and just gives cheap peace of mind

Probably a dealer added option. They just bought a cheap set and didn’t even bother to buy a compatible set. Those lock nuts are easily defeated by thieves. They probably prevent the owner of the truck from removing his wheels more often than actual thieves. My truck had some when I bought my truck. I told them I’m not paying for them and I want my stock lugs back. They still gave them to me but didn’t charge me and handed me 4 new lugs.

Certified pre-owned comes with 7 year roadside assist.

And yes, I can change a tire but hey, why bother.

Yup, I am curious too, always seems like they give you car jacks, when trucks are now coming with stock 20s and like ,32" tires from factory. That's a shame if it barely lifts the truck

Are you jacking from the points listed in the manual? People make this complaint about solid axle cars and trucks without realizing that you need to jack from the axle tube. I think the Tundra has a front lift point close to the diff.

Or... what happened to me... the corner of the lock lug nut broke off....on my 2nd gen Tundra. Ended up having to take it to the dealer, and they worked over an hour, trying to get it off, with a slew of different tools, one that seemed to be the best, was, a reverse turning gripping kind of tool. (they broke the first tool like this doing this...) I'm a no lock lug nut person now...

    This thread has me thinking......
One of those locking lugs broke on my 97 4Runner.
I had to hammer a socket on it to get it off.
    Fortunately, I was at home.

I bought the TRD lug kit for my 2014 after the stock 2-piece lug nuts petered out.
The kit comes with 16 splined nuts and 4 lock nuts.
Has a spline key and a lock key.
What do I need the locks for?
I'm going to order 4 more spline nuts and ditch the locks..
I don't want to get stranded anywhere.

As to the OP, I have a 2.5" lift and keep a piece of 4X4 in my swing case in case I ever need it..
And as @Taco-Spike suggested a 4-way lug wrench behind the back seat.
