Thanks for opportunity to ask this:
    I have a 2011 tundra 4 wheel drive I bought new. 135,000 miles.
Two weeks ago the check engine light came on. I had it checked for the code and it was p0430 catalytic transmission efficiency below threshold bank 2.
The dealership I have taken it to told me: the converter is not clogged but needs replaced or is not working correctly. I told them I would think about it for now.

Last week the check engine light went off. Today I checked it again for codes and it has a stored code of p0430 and no pending codes.

Would this still indicate the converter needs replaced? Thank you

If the light is off, drive it until it comes back on. If it does, go to a muffler shop. It’s much cheaper to weld in aftermarket cats at $100 a piece than factory ones at I think $800 a piece.

Check your oxygen sensor for any damage on the wiring... aftermarket is cheaper unless you live in a CARB tight place then it's a moderate expense at about $300+... if you have to do a biannual smog check you might not pass, so be advised and check your local requirements..

This light came back on. I learned my 2011 tundra has 4 cats
One on the left side is bad and csnt be welded in
U have to buy the entire oem pipe and replace the two on driver side. The cost is 1200 installed.
Does this sound right not being able to weld one of them back? I didnt understand that.
    Thank you for
