She seems to be over the worst of the nausea now that's she's out of the first trimester. She feels huge already, though.

Congrats on the upcoming twins! You guys are going to have your hands full in the best way possible! Ours are 10.5 months apart. I don’t know what twins is like but that was a handful as well.

Yes! Me too. Spent the better part of an hour at a makeup store today with my daughter finding stocking stuffers for my wife. Was pure comedy since she has no interest in makeup so we were both lost.

Had pizza and fun Friday night with my son, DIL, and the grands. Granddaughter had her 5th birthday party last night, with movies outside and a bunch of her besties from kindergarten (no grownups but her mom and MiMi allowed, so we got pix as they happened). Went to dinner with some dear friends, and had them over for drinks, loud laughter, and fun (and had to stay in bed until almost 10 this morning to pay that bill).

I always remember how blessed I am to have the life I do; but sometimes, as with the news of recent events for a forum member, it hits home a little harder. I get to wake up with most things right and good in the world. I hope the same is true for most of you, too. I did hug the kids and friends a little tighter this weekend, and I'm thankful I'll get to do it again soon.

Two daughters here, one told me how to dress (she's my stepdaughter and was 13 when her Mom and I married) and the other told me when it was time to shave. At least she did until she found out there was a sharp blade in the razor. Then she was horrified that Daddy was dragging a sharp razor blade across his face.

I’m trying to cherish as much as I can at each age. I was supposed to go to my work Christmas party last night but the wife and kids were staying home just cause they were just hitting over being sick and all of our babysitters were sick. My daughter last night looks up at me as I was getting ready to go with those puppy dog eyes and said daddy will you please stay home? How am I ever going to say no to that! I feel obligated to be at the Christmas party since I am a manager and part of the leadership team however the kiddos have to see that they take priority too. It was a great night as a family and I’m sure the party got on just fine without me.

Good call Dad...that memory is way more important.

I'll share a story...My daughter as the 2nd child has always had the "I want to do what my big bro does" drive. Unlike most kids that cry on the first day of daycare, she walked in as a confident 3 year old strutting b/c that's what her brother did. Everything that year at daycare was amazing to her because it was the first. First Christmas party, first Easter (Christian school), first Mother's day and first Fathers day. However, since Father's day was after school closed for the summer they held it a few months earlier. Well, guess what...that day was also the one day I had to be at work. Two+ years of a horrible project I'd led and had survived multiple "battles" was doing it's flight test on the same day. Hundreds of people, thousands of hours and massive amounts of $ needed to be my only focus on that one day.

One of the few personal things I keep on my desk is a picture of my wife and daughter at that event. Apparently for the entire class I was the only father not there. And to really drive a knife into my heart, one of the craft projects they did was making airplanes. That's on my desk too. Both remind me to work hard when it is needed, cuz I'm the main bread winner. But both also remind me that family is #1 and being there is more valuable than money.

Once we get our first big snow of the winter, it stays until spring. If we get a stretch of warm, sunny weather, it will melt off the roads and around the edges of the lawns but it will never be completely gone. It would be weird to me to go back and forth between snow and no snow over winter.
