Hello, new guy here. Recently switched from a 2017 Sierra and bought a new cement gray 2021 Tundra Limited. Wohooo!!

I found this defect on the center console, I was wondering if it’s a common defect and if I should get it fixed? There’s a gap in the plastic.

Mines the same. There’s probably one dude on the assembly line screwing up every single Tundra.

I'm happy to report my 2012 does not have it. Must be a new hire on the assembly line..

Congrats on your new tundra ….
if you are at all like me you may not want to inspect things to close. The overall workmanship on your tundra fit and finish is only average and it bothered me at first…. but in saying that it will stay that way for years.
My 2016 is by far the most reliable truck I have owned over the last 34 years

I believe you can pop it into place. I have removed that section with my 2017 and it looked like that after I did some work. I pushed/clicked it back into place. You would be surprised to find out how easy it is to install and remove these parts. They are like legos and click and snap into place with ease. I would recommend being easy with it. I really do not see the need to take it in to get it fixed. They will most likely do the same thing.

Now that is a pain in the arse. It's not your fault Toyota didn't account for Popeye fore arms!

That said... super easy fix. You can remove the top via those screws you see in the pick. I have had to replace mine (due to dogs) in my past Tundras. I ended up just getting a "dog proof cover".

I am sure there is a post somewhere that shows how to replace or fix this issue. You can also use some contact cement around the inside edges before you screw things down again, which will help hold it in place.

I found this with a very quick search: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-qT10swLQdw

My 2021 I purchased in February has that too. Figured it was a defect. Dealer replaced it this week, apparently not knowing it is a common thing, and the new one is exactly the same….errrrrr. Sounds like Toyota isn’t aware of this or they don’t think it’s an issue. Wouldn’t think it would be this way on a $60k vehicle.

So, my dealer just called me, because they’ve never seen before. They said they had a 2016, 2018 and 2019 just come in for service and all of them had this same exact characteristic. They’re uncertain of why it would be this way. At least I know it’s not isolated to just mine. It was something I’ve been researching, but found no information about until now. Thanks to everyone for chiming in, but especially Blacktrickbasher who started this tread.

I’m glad I’ve seen this sub… I thought I jacked mine up while installing the Mesa blackout kit.

So is mine. Noticed it today when I moved the seat cushion so I could vacuum between the seat and center console.

What are you using for a dog proof cover on your console? I'm coming from an 08 that I replaced the fauxleahter on a couple of times??

Mine does it also. Figure I'll end up wrapping it when getting leather seats.
