Curiosity got the best of me today while looking up some parts through the Toyota site and I decided to see the going price of OEM converters. It looks as if they’re “no longer available for purchase.” Not sure if it’s because they’re back ordered so far out or they actually have stopped producing them. My trucks a 16 sr5 trd off road 5.7. Anyone know what might be going on? I don’t need a converter at the moment but if it would ever fail… it would be nice to go OEM.

Its probably due to all of the cats going to dealerships. So many Toyota dealerships are on 6+ month back log waiting for cats that they probably aren't even selling to anyone besides dealerships or thru insurance claims.

Either way, its costly and time consuming. If you don't have some form of cat plate protection, look into some now. Cheaper and easier than having to wait and deal with paperwork for a replacement

Makes sense. I was somewhat assuming something in that nature. But on the cat plate protection.. I probably really should look into something like that.

Yes, look into it. @Talon2006 makes plates that fit the vehicles and is an approved vendor on the forum. You probably also have a local metalshop that is/can make them.

Like my plates from Vallhalla very much as well.

I have those and the ones from Talon are pretty similar. Also, I don't think Valhalla is selling the plates anymore.

    Just a few
Valhalla’s website still appears to be taking orders. I do have one on order since second week in September, but have yet to receive them. Could definitely be something going on?

I had not heard about any issues other than backlog of orders. Mine did take a while.

If I'm not mistaken, Valhalla was asked to stop taking orders until Tyler catches up with existing orders.

Could be true, but he was advertising Black Friday special on his site that week. Seems he is still taking orders, just not discussing it here. Hopefully he'll get caught up soon.

Took nearly 6 months to get mine and got multiple notices they shipped and clearly hadn't. He is just slow and not the most responsive. I think it is a one man operation. I am happy with my plates but you aren't getting anything in a rush.

He is a one man operation and back a year ago, was one of the only places to get plates. He got slammed and worked his ass off to get them out. If you go to the vendor section and post your inquiries under Valhalla, he is very responsive and open about shipping delays and the like.

Looks like I will be going with some type of protection plate for peace of mind. Waiting for months for to get the Cats replaced is not an option.
