Key Fob

I was recently told by a buddy that works for toyota that several new Toyotas including the Tundra will only be coming with one key fob.Apparently they have a shortage and will give you a voucher to obtain a second fob when they can get more. Has anyone heard the same

You could try to order one and ask for you money back...

 

It's not just Toyota. I've heard other brands were having same issue. Chip shortages. I just picked up a Rav4 and got 2 keys. So kind of random I guess.

 

I just took delivery on a 2022 last week and it came with two. That would make me a little nervous to only have one fob available, because it will ikley take a long time for a second to come in. While I have never lost a key/fob...I know darn well that would be the time.

 

Had the same issue with my MT Tacoma in May 2021. I kept hocking the dealer for the second chipped key and eventually they ordered one at no charge. A couple of weeks later, I get a call to bring in my truck for the key recall. So now I have 3 - go figure!

 

That exact thing happened to a friend with a different make that was only given one fob. He was at the gym and some how lost the fob couldn’t find it anywhere in the gym. His 3 week old car sat in the gym lot over nite. Had to have it towed to the dealer. And the dealer had to find a fob elsewhere because they didn’t have one in stock

I bought a new car back in February, I actually just received an email Friday stating that my second key fob is available for pickup. Not a Toyota.

 

Just took delivery on Friday and only got one fob. Told that they will either mail it to me or mail it to the dealership. No idea when though...

 

I got two with my 2023 Tundra purchased 4 November.

Yes. They do.

 

When I picked up my new 1794 Friday, I got 1 fob... and the physical key for the other fob - they told me, Toyota will mail the other fob to us. Not a great policy. Not sure how much they're saving by doing this? It is a little concerning in case we lose or misplace one... it rarely happens, but watch this happen now...

 

So... I have a question re: having just 1 fob - Just found out, from my sales guy, it could be up to a month to get a 2nd fob Can I program my wife's iphone/info into the fob that's assigned to my profile( android ) ? Wonder if it comes up with 2 owners to select profile from? Guess I'll have to go find the owners manual/try it tonight.
Update: I created her profile on the Truck, and we swap the key fob back and forth as we swap drivers - it pulls her profile from the Toyota app on her iphone. And, from mine, when I'm driving. So, for now. other than the fear of losing our 1 fob, we're ok.

 

I got two fobs about two weeks ago when I got my truck. The dealer near me is only doing one fob now for tundras with a sticker from Toyota on the outside about it. Seems like only some dealers are doing the one fob thing maybe?

 

I just picked up my tundra 2 nights ago, and it came with 2 fobs, the salesman was surprised.

 

Picked up mine 2 weeks ago in Austin, TX. Just 1 fob. Not sure when I will get the other fob

 

Got mine this week in NH, one fob two keys.

 

My 22, 1794 was purchased October 15, it came with two fobs.

 

Just spoke with my dealer, confirmed a second fob at somepoint and Toyota will send a letter to notify me when they have availability.

 

I was told they would mail the second fob to me.

 

I picked up my truck Tuesday only got one fob.Second one will be mailed

 

Took delivery of my truck yesterday with only one fob. Immediately ordered an Apple AirTag for my key chain!

 

I asked my dealer, they said they hope a month, but didn't seem real sure about that answer... I purchased 11/25 ... still waiting for my 2nd fob.

 

I got my 2023 Tundra on 11/12. Still no word about the second fob. Dealer said I will be contacted directly by Toyota whenever the fob is available. It might be several months

 

just took delivery last Tuesday of my 2023 Tundra, only one FOB along with a key

 

Got my 23 a couple weeks ago, 1 fob. Other will be mailed.

 

My July ordered, delivered in Nov 22 had 2 fobs

 

Mine only came with one. Purchased November 26. Waiting on the other. Was told it could be month or so
