We've been having TONs of discussions on wheels & tire sizes, but information on the spare has been pretty minimal.

I'm going to run a 18x9 6x5.5 +18mm/5.75" wheel with 285/75/18 tires. Either Yoko M/Ts or GY Duratracs because I can get a good deal on either. This will be after I do the installation of the RC leveling kit in a few weeks. I'm definitely going to buy a 5th tire as the spare since I'll be going up in size so much.

Question: Has anyone stuffed big 34" or 35" under the bed as a spare tire yet on a 2022?

I haven't seen much discussion on the spare tire area yet.

    Too many, but not enough....
You can fit a 35 under there, it would be close to shackles if you have coachbuilders, and you would have to trim or remove the guides but its doable. It will be pretty tight though.

Edit: Dang it, didnt realize this was a 22 question. I am not sure on the new gens.

Circling back on this old thread. I had 295/70/18 Cooper Evo M/Ts installed last week and I bought a matching spare to mount on the OEM steel rim. It stowed under the bed no problem. Clears the rear axle & suspension just fine.

Wanted to let everyone know who was curious. The 295/70/18 is 34.3" in diameter and 11.8" wide vs the 32.6" diameter & 10.4" wide of the OEM size.

Resurrecting an old one here... Curious if you or anyone on here has test fit the steel spare wheel with 295s or larger, specifically on the front of the truck. I know my 295s were very close to rubbing the UCAs when mounted on the factory 18x7 wheels. I haven't been able to find dimensions of the factory spare steel wheel so I'm curious if this combo will clear in the front. Ideally I'd like to just throw a matching tire on the spare wheel and know I can use it in any position on the truck in a pinch, rather than having to potentially swap two wheels and run the spare on the rear only. Anyone test fit this yet?

I have not test fit the larger spare in a front position yet. To your point, if I have to slap the spare on because my plug kit & compressor won't fix it...I might have to run the spare on the rear.

I am running the aftermarket Icon UCAs that are much smaller in their footprint than the OE ones. That might give me some additional clearance than I had before, should I need it.

Don't quote me on this, but I'm pretty sure the spare is 18x7 as well. Here's an eBay listing that claims they're selling new take-offs of the spare rims and they some listed for the 2022 Tundra.

Thanks for the reply. Definitely not the end of the world to have to swap things around to run a spare in the rear if you can get to a decent spot to do that. More just curious if anyone could answer ahead of time. Always nice to have a plan in mind if you were to lose a tire. I also have a compressor and repair kit in the truck 100% of the time to reduce the need to actually use a spare. I think you are right on the spare being 18x7, just curious if offset is similar or the same. It very well may be. I hadn't thought about the extra clearance of the aftermarket UCAs. I didn't go that route with this truck since I didn't feel it offered me much advantage for my use case. Running very close to stock ride height and alignment is spot on with factory UCAs.

I bought a 35x12.5x20 toyo MT brand new a few weeks ago for $75 and have a factory lbs k 20 that a member on here scratched coming and will be mounting it in the spare tire location. Worst case scenario is I can’t turn super hard either direction if it’s mounted up front and the conflicting offset between factory wheel and my BH01’s could be weird… but it’s a spare to get me out of trouble

I had to cut the front guides tabs. Is sitting about 1/2" away from the pahard bar. No rubbing

Does it looks like a 2022 ? just get under and chop those little stubs and you good to fit a 315/70/17” As long is not a mud terrain tire.

Shoot mine is a toyo MT, will try it and report back, can also offset it when cranking it up, or deflate it slightly.

Your first post didn’t have pictures and your profile says you have a 2010 FYI. Lots of
Folks accidentally post in the 3rd gen group, hence why I asked!
