Reading is a great thing. I wish I read more, but I have to be in the mood.

 

I don't think I've read any Verne but I picked up a collection of stories by HG Wells at a garage sale that's quite good.

 

I love reading but haven't picked up a novel since I had to in high school.
It's got to be automotive, outdoors or hunting related for me. Usually online articles or a magazine.

 

I don't know why I always get sad when I have to choose a floor in the elevator.



It's just depressing.

 

I'll read owner's manuals for stuff I buy, the occasional Armed Citizen article, and the entire sushi menu. Does that count?


For recreational reading I prefer fiction. I read solely for entertainment, so nonfiction is usually boring as all hell to me. I'm an escapism junky.

 

I love to read, but rarely do these days as I just cannot get into any books. Have a stack of books next to my bed; some have been there for years. Buying land, cyber security and privacy, economics, Jack Reacher novels…it took me two years to finish Tyson’s small “Astrophysics for people in a hurry”.

I go through phases and read a lot of a specific genre but then get bored and move on. Unfortunately for many years I cannot find anything that excites me.

 

I'm not necessarily against non fiction but I've ended up hating every non fiction book I've ever read by the end.

 

The Jack Reacher books are awesome and they're pretty quick and easy reads.

 

I am either in a reading binge, or have zero interest. There's never been a middle ground for me. I usually try to find a series of books, or an author that I like and stick to that until I fall back out of reading. It's usually a year or two between binges.

 

My wife and son devour all of them then hand the book to me and say “you’re going to love this one”

Let me guess…Jack takes a bus to a new tiny town, buys some new pants, magically gets caught up in local shenanigans and then beats the chit out of the bad guy? Think I’ve already read that story….

 

I remember reading both of them as a kid.
Can't say I remember many details any more though.

I have similar degrees of separation to a couple semi famous people. For example, my younger brother went to school with the guy that created Cyanide and Happiness. I have a BIL that went to college with one of The Piano Guys, too.

If I saw that on my truck I’d either throw it the fob and run, or if it hadn’t seen me yet I might try to cover the truck in gas and burn it all to the ground.
