I have a 2022 double cab SR5 TRD. Looking to put a bed step on her. Good quality. Any suggestions/part numbers?

Those Toyota steps have been on back order the last few times I looked. I sure miss the bumper steps on my old truck, but once I get one for this truck it will be fine. Really should have just come on the truck in my opinion. SR5 TRD OR

no one is gonna complain about having the step and just charge $200 more, it’s a needed feature to make the truck useable.

I’d recommend the OEM one, well built and works great. Ordered mine through the Toyota parts site, shipped from a local dealer.

I thought so. I went to parts.toyota.com but couldn't find it. I was looking in the wrong section. Thank you

I agree. They should come standard. I never really needed one until this truck. I'm only 5' tall and I have a really hard time getting in the bed

I would rather have the step that is off to the side. Even with the tailgate down, I have a hard time getting in the bed. I'm really short. And I already have a trailer hitch on it. I found one on the Toyota website

Agreed, I would have gladly paid the extra $ to have a rear power step - separate from the power step bars. I'm picking a manual one up today at the dealer. but ... would have preferred a powered/automatic version.

I just did that. I was looking in the wrong section of the parts website. A little more expensive than I expected but what isn't nowadays.

I went with manual because I was afraid the salt that gets put on the roads in the winter would affect it.
I tried ordering a custom Tundra with the step and running boards already installed but there weren't any available. I searched for an SR5 TRD and only found one available in my entire state. Oddly enough, it was the place I purchased my 2001 Tundra back in 2007. So they treated me really well.

Doesn’t the 3rd gen Tacoma have the same non-step pad bumper as well?

Do the tacoma guys have issues with their bumpers?

I want a bed step for sure. Gonna order come this January. Xmas draining me funds down. Lol

They do, but the stock height of a Taco bed is much lower than that of a Tundra. It's less of an issue for them, I would imagine.

I never felt like I needed a bed step on my old 2nd Gen Taco until I lifted it.

I ordered the backordered Toyota one and had it in about 2 weeks at my local dealership. It's really nice and appears to be well made. Install was super simple. It's slightly cheaper branded as the Amp step, but they have been on backorder forever. The only thing I don't like is how it sits crooked when retracted.

I wish it was a little higher when extended like the powered bed step.

It's nice and level when extended, but every time I look at it retracted I get slightly annoyed. I'd buy it again though. I took the picture at the worst possible angle to illustrate.

I see what you mean...that would annoy me also. It should be to me flush and level when retracted.

I ordered this model from The Yota Garage on July 31 and received an email instantly stating it’s on back order until the end of October. I replied saying I’ll wait it out since I’m sure they’re all delayed. November came, I asked for an update and was told end of this year.

Yeah. Same through Realtruck. That's why I spent a little more for Toyota's version. I figure Amp is probably prioritizing the OEM orders.

That's what the local parts manager told me when I ordered my OEM bed step in late Sept. I kept holding off because it was backordered, but he said to just put in the order anyways. He said AMP's agreement with Toyota USA is they have keep up with OE demand first and allow Toyota USA to have a certain amount of supply on hand before they're allowed to fulfill open market orders with retailers. Take that with a grain of salt, but it seems plausible enough given what's happening with the supply.

My OE bed step arrived about 10 days after I ordered it so the backorder wasn't very long.
