Anyone ever wonder why a $52k+ truck with twin turbos and all kinds of fancy electronics wouldn't have, power seats and a dome light? My 21 Tacoma TRD Sport 4x4 had cloth interior and power seats and a dome light for 10k less. Just things I wonder about sometimes.

Depends on the trim you buy, not the cost you paid. Lower trims will have less options, regardless of cost. Things are getting more expensive always. That’s how inflation works. Couple that with the safety regulations and EPA requirements and vehicles in particular are getting more complicated, heavier and yes, more expensive.

If they included features on base trims, they'd make less money on higher trims

Economy passengers must walk through business to get to their seats ...

Oh I know it depends on trim level, but what's a power seat and a dome light, is my point. In the grand scheme of things, these things are standard on almost everything these days. Point being, simple things like power seats on anything with these kinda price tags should be standard no matter the trim. And may I ask, what's the point of smart key, touch the handle and the doors unlock and all that hoopla if you can't see inside the vehicle? (Even when you're in it there's not enough lighting). Just saying some details where missed in my opinion, but that and $2 bucks won't get a Coke nowadays.

It's not just the "trim" that you buy.

3rd gen tundra SR5 and even limited+ are waaaay behind in cabin comfort vs the other mfg.

Toyota even went backwards on their sr5 trim, I had a 97 sr5 4runner base - they had no trd crap back then. Even those sr5 came with manual seats and lumbar support - way more then 4 ways. Pretty sure a leather wrapped wheel was std on sr5 as well and not needed a upgraded package on top of sr5.

Do realize some gen3 sr5 with optioned out to almost 60k msrp - don't even have blind spot monitor.....

I get your point, but it has little to do with price you paid compared to the good old days, and everything to do with todays market and the way the vehicles are packaged to get you to “feature up” for that thing you can’t live without. One feature you can’t live without and you upgrade a trim level for $3200. I believe there is a power package you can get for SR5s that includes power seats. It’s not standard apparently. The vehicle would not be available at lower price points if all the features were included in the lower trims. Also, some may want the least amount of features to max available payload out, and don’t want any extras like power seats. Bottom line, $52k is a lot for a vehicle, especially a truck, especially the way it comes equipped. Them’s the breaks unfortunately.

I agree for these kinda prices other mfg. got way more comfort and options and it's not a "package".

What makes it weirder is Texas builds all these trucks, yet Canada gets special shit, power 8way cloth is std on sr5. They also get the fancy trd steering wheel for trd packages, and their off-road packages keep 18s (much better for aftermarket tires and 4wheelin)

My 4th gen Laramie ram has more crap then a platinum, someone said you can't even get adjustable pedals on gen3, shit guess everyone's legs are same.

The Laramie should equal to limited, but it's like a platinum already lol

For sure and you're right, I'm just a huge Yota fan and it's disappointing when for pennies to them they could add a couple little things to make it a smidge better. And the package to get power seats is the "SR5 Premium Package" which adds Softex like leather so kinda like my other post about no middle ground with the AC, again no middle ground. Good thing I leased it to see what is all about, but by far my 21 TRD Sport Tacoma 4door long bed, has this thing beat hands down except for power. I'll give em that this V6 Twin Turbo is stupid nice!

And one would think outta Texas these jokers would have killer AC, but NO! And yes 20 inch rims are useless honestly and tires for them are stupid expensive vs 18s! THX

Try using the same aspect ratio, you may notice a diff.

Those were both factory size 18 and 20” offerings of similar overall diameter. Apples to apples when comparing with an orange.

You know you're right, I did, still doesn't negate the fact that these are standards across many other mfg. All I'm saying is I expect more from Toyota than any other mfg. because I've come to rely on what's standard in Toyotas is extra in others, but in this case what's standard in others is WAY more on Toyota.

Cooper is not even offered on toyota so Apple orange whatever use the same aspect ratio if you want to compare price period. 275/65, 265/65, 255/65 matters not!

This comparison is a 34” tire for a 20” rim or a 32” tire for an 18” rim. Not the same thing.

Lol this forum has a very awkward, out to prove you are wrong vibe.

If you actually off-road your truck 18s when deflated will give you more sidewall vs a 20, we started talking about the poor trim equipment vs other mfg, then we veered into Canada spec vs USA, and now this piss match over tires lol

I wouldn’t say that’s forum specific. That’s called the internet. Even facts are subjective.

Indeed. My 2019 Camry LE has power driver's seat and integrated garage door openers, and my 2023 Tundra does not. Still very happy with the truck, and happy to have traded my Ford for pretty near what I paid for it five years ago.

Are you saying that your 22 SR5 doesn’t have power seat or a dome light? Mike Sweer really screwed the buyers on this one. Toyota has turned to a nickle and dime company.

The new Tundras have overhead lighting, it's just not a dome in the center of the roof. This is for wiring consistency to accommodate trucks with a sunroof.

Have you tried turning the switch to "on" or "door" mode?

Inflation, baby! Hell, back in 1969, after I returned from 'Nam, I bought a new '70 Olds 442, and spent a little over $5K for it. I swore then that I'd never again spend $5k for a vehicle. Little did I know how true that was. Never came close to that low a price again. :D
