When I purchased my '05 Double cab, it came with being offset rear ended (hit on just the right side). What is the best way to pull out the right side bumper mount? I imagine the bumper mounts are shock absorbing, so when rear ended they are like springs that give way when rear ended so frame damage doesn't occur. Am I right on that assumption? Or....? I know body shops pull out pushed in mounts all the time, so I'm curious if it's something I can do, or will I need to take it to a shop?

    It's good
I would just take it all off and straighten the bracket off the truck

The bumper is crushed. I'm asking if it's a mount that is pushed in. I guess I'll just have to take it to a body shop to have it pulled out.

Yeah, there are braces that attach the bumper to the frame. If hit hard enough the frame can be damaged but for the most part they can be replaced if needed.

If it's not one of these parts you're talking about, then it's the frame...

I believe he’s referring to #2 & #3 which can either be bent back in shape or replaced.

There are no springs, or shock absorbers back there that can spontaneously esplodey and hurt you. Just two bolts on each side of the frame for the bumper mount, and then the bumper is mechanically free from the frame.

There is wiring for your license plate lights. Remove those first before taking the bumper off.

This diagram doesn't show it, but the bumper also has braces that run vertically. I backed into our RAV4 a few years ago and noticed that brace when inspecting my own bumper.

I'm guessing it's #2 that is bent. I'll have to look into that. Thank you!
