I do a lot of night driving in rural, deer infested areas. I'd really like to run my fogs along with my high beams so I don't get jumped by Bambi. I've had a few close calls recently.

I'd be willing to upgrade my fogs for more light as well.

Any cheap and easy way to do this?

and to be clear, I can't recall the last time I drove in significant fog... encounters are almost daily in the early fall!

I've been kicking around trying to develop a module for "always-on" fogs for the 20+ Tundras, but unfortunately haven't gotten around to it yet. The only thing that I know of that is currently available would be to bypass the OEM fog wiring altogether and just run the aftermarket fogs to a switch.

Wouldn't ditch lights be more suited to your needs? Wire those up to a switch and turn them on when needed.

Thanks for the link. This looks relatively plug n play (my wheelhouse).

Let us know how it works for you/install guide would be killer. Thanks!

They never used to have one for the latest gen Tundra. Instead of reinventing the wheel I may just pick this up. Appreciate the link!

Screenshot_20221122-103042.jpg Fwiw, I spent many years in a similar situation and always used the stick on whistle things from yesteryear with great success. I think the secret is to make sure they don't get clogged up and the mounting position is adequate for function. Thanks for reminding me to get a new set to add to the Ranch Hand Bambi killer.

I did it on my 2019 using the factory fog switch on the stalk and a relay. I would assume a 20 is most likely the same wires but i can look on TIS to double check. I can get the wiring diagram and help guide you if you would like. There are two wires that you need to cut at the main body ecu. One supplies a ground signal from the fog light switch into the main body ecu and then the main body ecu outputs ground to the fog light relay to make them turn on.

So you just add an additional relay at wherever you're saying to make the "cut"? And is this something that an electrical dummy like me can do?
And that will allow independent action of the fog lights - they can be switched on when headlights are off, DRLs only, and with HiBeams too (I also have a 2019)?

Yes exactly. And yes you can turn the fog lights on anytime the ignition is turned on regardless of what other lights are on. The point of the relay is just so the lights will turn off when the ignition is turned off. It will only supply ground to the fog light relay if there is ignition power to the relay. I'm working on putting together pictures of the wiring diagram now. I also confirmed the wiring is the same for 2017-2021

I know it looks complicated but essentially all your doing is connecting the red wire to the cut grey wire via a relay. The two connectors are right next to each other right next to the steering wheel. If i can find some time ill try to get a video or pictures of the connectors and wires so it doesn't seem so scary lol.

In Montana I knew someone with those on his car. I will admit I never heard of him hitting a deer or an antelope, but elk were another story. With these on his car(s) he hit one elk, a year later an elk hit him (car). So maybe they just piss off elk? :confused:o_O:notsure:

Or maybe they were plugged up with debris, not mounted properly? Who knows, I only know they worked when I used them over ten years.

Sorry, turkey day had me a little held up but i was able to take apart a fresh tundra this morning. Here's the wires that you need to use. After that you will just need a ground at pin 86 and ignition power for the relay at pin 85. These connectors pictured are right behind the knee trim panel to the left of the steering wheel. Hope this helps!IMG_0297.jpg IMG_0303.jpg IMG_0302.jpg

I did the $5 fog light mod on my 2017. Search the Mods link. Basically, you put a jumper in the fuse box under the hood and ground it. Super easy. This mod has your fog lights on anytime you use parking lights, regular headlights or high beams. I've had it installed for 4 years and I've had zero issues.

I agree, this works, cheap, easy, age easily done. On my 14 I did this first and ran it like that for a while but then did the "Eddie V's" fog light mod which is similar to the one you're explaining but slightly different.
