2 out of 3 ain't bad, tuna in the middle. I'm not a fan of salmon except for smoked.

Ah yes, the color is a little too uniform for salmon.

Looks good. For some reason I cannot do Mackerel. Tastes great going in but by the 2nd or 3rd bite the funk hits my throat and I've got hold back a gag reflex.

I've been at restaurants that sell this stuff. Small 6-8oz cuts for about $200. Even when I have phuk-it money in my pocket I cannot do it...I see a big porterhouse or ribeye for half that price and decide I'd rather buy a nicer bottle of wine than blow it on 6 bites of heaven.

We always had a real tree when I was growing up until my mom decided she didn't feel like dealing with allergy symptoms for a couple weeks every year. Now my parents have a fake tree.

When I lived on my own, I didn't bother getting a tree except for a couple years when my brother was selling them with the forestry students' society.

I'm pretty sure one of the first things my wife got when she moved out was a fake Christmas tree so that's what we put up every year. I wouldn't be averse to also getting a real tree since we have a two storey but I wouldn't be allowed to put it anywhere. Can't go upstairs because we have carpet and can't go on the main floor because we have hardwood in the living room and "flex room".

These are pickled but I know what you mean. A lot of people don't care for it. Spanish mackerel I smoke and use for dip. Kings I soak overnight in water and baking soda. That takes the oily fish taste away.

Finally got my pics downloaded from Hong Kong. Nothing too exciting as I didn't venture into the city due to the Covid restrictions.

    Business class rules...
    IMG_0015.jpg

Still never tried a bidet...want too, but I need one in my hotel room. Not the biz class lounge. Besides being completely buggered up with booger-hook grime, I know if I get one of these buttons wrong I'll squeal like a pig.
    XSHC7494.jpg

HK has a mandatory "LeaveHomeSafe" app which is basically a Big Brother tracker. Enter the hotel and have to scan your temp and scan the QR code. The code "registers" you at the establishment. You need to scan the QR code at most establishments and even taxi cabs. When you leave you have to remember to "log out" of the location. This is for close-contact tracing. The app also includes a color-code. When you arrive if you've completed all the necessary paperwork and are fully vax'd you get a yellow color for 3 days. At 9am on day three if you've done your required PCR tests and come back clean then you "go blue". Blue means you can enter restaurants, bars, work out centers, etc.
    IMG_0026.jpg

    Some Toyota porn for ya.
    IMG_0060.jpg

Test positive for Covid during the 7-day monitoring period after your arrival and you get put at the Novotel for a mandatory 7-day stay. That's if you're asymptomatic. If you have symptoms, you get a hospital. Have a spouse? They go too. Your spouse tests positive on day 7? Congratulations, you both earn another 7-day stay. This happened to one of our local employees. Hotel is tired, food is provided but no menu to select from (you eat whatever Chinese food arrives) and you cannot order-in food. I'm not really sure how any marriage could survive that. I'm sure that guy has some form of PTSD, as he's done two 21-day stints going into China as well. This is why I didn't venture out into the city or do any local attractions during my trip. Eff that...I'll party in HK when the crazy is over.
    IMG_0056.jpg

These massive residential buildings were everywhere. Fifty stories at least. Local rep that just moved there said the 2-3 bedroom units are 700-900 sqft. Bedrooms don't have closets. You can rent for $10k/month or buy now for a low low price of $1.5-2 million. And people flock to this city...
    IMG_0090.jpg

Hotel I stayed at had a rooftop bar that we crashed every night after "going blue". It had a 180 degree view and was pretty amazing at sunset. This was worth venturing "out" from my room.
    IMG_0139.jpg

Taipei airport at 8pm on a Saturday. Entire wings of a massive international airport were completely empty. Being a huge hub for Asia, each wing (there were 4) was probably a 10-15 minute walk end to end. Felt bad for the employees staffing the various stores...what a horrible shift.

We opted for a new Christmas tree, bought it in June. A lot cheaper then than getting it now. We’ve had artificial for awhile. Originally We did the go into the mountains and then the tree farm to cut. Usually it was one off the lot. I mentioned one year that artificial trees don’t have bugs… That ended the nature trees for my daughter and wife. Anyways, we finished the tree tonight as we did not have one last year due to moving.

I learned long ago that no matter how many times I explain how “Auto AC” works, my wife will fuck with the fan and the temp endlessly while in the vehicle (hers or mine).

now, i just shut up and adjust my side to be how I like it. If she wants the seat heater on with her temp set to LO that’s her choice. But no touching the fan speed or output mode.

I honestly don’t find it that “heavenly”
Too much marbling and fat don’t make a great cut of meat to me. I like a little texture.

Mine just puts the visor down, regardless of whether it's actually sunny or not. And no she's not looking in the vanity mirror.

I grew up with artificial trees due to some allergies I had when I was younger. When I got married one of my wife’s family traditions was to go get a real one every year. I decided what the heck I’ll give it a go. We did, it was fun, I didn’t have allergies, but last year the tree had bugs in it. And not just a few, a shitload. The tree was out of the house before Christmas which bummed the kiddos out. I’m now typing this sitting next to our fake tree! :D

We might compromise and get a real one too , however will live outside on the front porch and get decorated with outdoor lights and ornaments.

My wife thought the purple Turkey was strange. She snapped a photo of the event.
She also cooks it in a bag and D5D029C3-C224-4CF6-898F-5C8CDA42AA5E.jpg It was very moist. It turned out to be one for the best Turkeys we ever cooked.

Yeah. All it takes is one year with bugs and then you are washing the tree down and getting it dry in the garage before bringing it inside. We had spiders in the tree, and my son was allergic to spiders.. this was many years ago. Going out into the snow in the mountains was good memories..
