Think I’d need to provide that first class ticket he asked for. Guess that makes the FedEx shipping costs a deal then!

    For sure. lol

Seriously, though, have you thought about the Tundras Express? Seeing if it can get daisy chained up to you by people making trips?

Never thought about it and wouldn’t with a set of heavy sliders. Just too much risk for damage and injury. That kind of thing makes more sense with smaller items that are easy to manage.

We're feeling the pinch in our house too, just upped my 401 contribution also.
Too bad about the contract, I know how that goes. :frusty:

Thankfully I'll end up with around 100 hours of OT this quarter, that really helps with new tires, shocks and Christmas/B-day presents.

Funny how it is different for everyone. My OT is my hourly rate plus $6.50. So not 1.5x or 2.0x. Most of my peers complain and I remind them we are technically salary so suck it up and be thankful for anything. I do enjoy their butthurt look when I remind them of how things normally work in the real world.

We have a max vacation threshold and if exceeded the vaca just disappears. Poof. Cannot cash it out. Excess sick leave is even stranger…

Yeah, not bad considering you're salary.
My last place was 1.5x and the Vacation disappeared.
Here it's 2.0x and they cash us out.

So what's with the sick leave, I'm intrigued

We get our full sick leave allocation on our anniversary date. Each year, 1/2 of the sick leave remaining from the prior 12 months is moved into a “reserve” account. That’s used if you burn thru your current allocation. The other half disappears.

When you leave the company voluntarily you can cash out the reserve allocation…but you only get 1/2 of the reserve and there’s a max payout limit too.

There are a lot of senior people retiring at the end of the month and they are not happy about the payout limit…sounds like it is pretty easy to hit.

We changed to a different interpretation of time off. PTO is for sick leave and vacay, and we don't get to cash it in or carry it over into the next year (unless state law where the FTE lives requires it). We're pretty generous with the number of hours for most folks (it maxes out at 240 for folks who've been around as long as me, plus another 32 for floating holidays). Directors and above don't get any PTO, but get to take off any time they want as long as their VP approves.

There are a lot of managers who do the same thing I do - - if someone's running low on time off and has something to do away from work, I make them answer a couple of emails from their phone and call it a work day. I can see where a business might not be able to operate that way, but as long as everyone's getting their job done I can't bring myself to care about someone skimming some time for themselves out of a work week.

Evening, Everybody. It's my Friday, and I am glad. Last night's/this morning's shift was a bit nutty for the last 4 hours, and I didn't sleep for beans today. :bored: Hope you are all ready for the holiday festivities with your families. :proposetoast:

Nah. Work was pretty crap for the last few hours, so stress/anxiety kept me awake. Took a while to get that all simmered down. I was exhausted, though, so the sleep I did get was pretty solid. Just not much of it. (3-ish hours)

I mean, yes, I was checking my email periodically for news on the Taco, but only because if I don't hear something by tomorrow I won't have time to go get it on this set of days off. Not exactly hopeful on that front. At this rate, I expect I'll get the notification at the worst time/too late and I won't be able to go get it until after the first of the year.

You need a post-work exercise plan... Studies have shown that 20 minutes of intense cardio, weight training, etc. after a stressful day, clears the mind and allows for more peaceful rest!

If you're not into that... I suggest my little friend here: :rasta:

    Pretty sure I'd die.

As for the other solution, multiple reasons that one doesn't happen. I'm what the kids would call "straight edge", and I would also be fired for it.

I should clarify, not this new straight edge vegan horseshit, and not because of punk music. I'm just not a booze or drugs person.

Correlation doesn't always equal causation, but you definitely don't have to worry about a straight edge person being late due to the brown bottle flu or other substance induced unreliability. Still, I've dealt with plenty of completely sober people who I were utterly unreliable for even the smallest things. I'm somewhere in the middle, because I am very forgetful.

I'm assuming it was the first part that threw you off. "Correlation doesn't equal causation" is basically stating that just because 2 things/events happen at the same time or in some correlated way does not meant that one caused the other. I'll give an example.

Correlation: A person is a jerk. The person possesses a penis. The two are independent items even though both apply to the same person, thus correlation does not equal causation.
