Just lucky I had that other 3rd with gears in it already. But even then, "swapping out an already built 3rd" sounds so much quicker and easier than it ever is. Glad I went for it and pulled it off tho. It was totally worth it to me, I had a blast with you guys, even in my crippled 1-wheel drive. haha

It would be fun to go back there in the spring or summer, hit up that hill again and spend time in the creek when it's warm. There was a pretty cool campsite at the top of the hill that you missed.

 

Yeah, stock 3rd with open diff and 3.91's. It was still complete. Diff went crunchy friday afternoon, we were to meet at 10am saturday morning. I was working on it til 11:30pm

Well the Tundras right headlight isnt working (hasnt in weeks). Isnt the fuse, relay, ballast, bulb, or the connectors so gotta trouble shoot that further but been too damn distracted shooting Mallards on our creek and Chukar, Huns, and Quail in the hills 5 min from home. Guess ill just keep dodging deer with 1 HID till end of Hunting season

 

I don't understand why they only made these in 2WD in the US. That one is clean though.

 

I was at 317k when I got it back from my dad in 18. I'm at 325k now in 22. That's even with me having to daily it from October to April last year.

They want you too! They're only 3400lbs so the tundra can trailer them.

I missed the one that was $500 w/free shipping. I went and talked to the JL distributor here. They quit making custom boxes a while back. He gave me a tip on a dude in witchita falls(3.5 hours away) that makes top notch boxes. That's a long drive for a custom box.

Welp, here goes at least another $1800 out of the truck slush fund, looks like I won't be getting wheels and tires any time soon.

Getting to the tail end of basement remodel. Plumbing finish-out done. But things weren't draining. Odd. Managed to get a snake to punch through something in the pipe, under the foundation, and things started draining again, then stopped draining after a few rounds of flushing toilet paper down. HUH. Almost like there was a flap down there...

Turns out whoever plumbed the basement into the main drainline installed a 4-way box, capped on 3 sides, so no water could get out. We managed to bust one of the caps out, now it's stuck in the pipe and occasionally clogs up. Even if we could get the cap out, we have nfc wtf they were thinking installing this 4-way box in the first place (there's no other way or thing to require 2 added drains here), or why they would cap it off from reaching the main. So now we get to jackhammer the foundation, dig it out, replace the box with straight pipe. Ugh.

Bye bye money, I guess this is a money shot, eh?

I love my Avalon…. 33mpg if I baby it on the highway. Plenty of power to get me I trouble. Design of the car has aged well too

 

Anyone know if scangauge has a miles to empty metric?

Original plumbing, as installed when house was built 20yrs ago.

Nobody to blame but the crew who knocked it out. Same d-bags who did this also notched one of my joists to make a drain pipe fit, and nobody caught it. I've still gotta repair that, actually. It's on a 30ft spread with no load bearing walls between the span, in the basement floor, with two floors above it. Worst place possible.

I can't tell you how much stuff like this pisses me off.

we had to do something similar for 3/4" pipes in the foundation at dads house. I dont know what its called, but the same process.

I see vids like this get reposted on Reddit now and then. In this case, I ultimately need to take something out (that damn 4" cap), rather than put something in. And the process of taking it out is just invasive enough it'll expose the problem box enough to replace.

Either way, it sucks, and I suspect I'll be out somewhere ballpark of $1,600-$2,200. This is above and beyond what was already budgeted. Nobody could've seen this ...

I feel ya. Just bought this house and the previous owners son (self proclaimed “custom woodworker” opened a doorway into a cased opening. It’s a load bearing wall. Actually the main support spine for the house. I think the trim is actually load bearing here.

 

I’ve further opened it up and installed a support beam.
