Broke out my Christmas tree early because a some of the lights were out last year.
I figured change a few bulbs and good to go.
Instead only 2 small sections lit up. I messed with it for a couple of hours before giving up ordering some string lights and started cutting off the 1500 lights. I think I got about 500 cut free before I packed it in for a cold beer.

All of you grumping about being old because I was born in '84.... I am old. Don't know what that makes you, but I'm the old man now.

You need to explain this to my friends who think they know how to build a fire.
In a pinch, I’ll also do the lean2

Send your friends up to visit me in late January or February. I'll take them out in -40 degrees, shove them in a river, pull them out then have them build a teepee fire to warm up. I'll do the same but build a log cabin fire. We'll see who gets warm first. :D

The cabin fire is so much easier and just as effective. Gross motor skills will get it done. Teepee is too much fine motor skills.

Plus, you can very easily have the cabin built and filled with tinder to use as a signal fire if you're lost and waiting for aircraft overhead. The teepee is to unstable to have prebuilt and just sitting.

Hahaha it’s funny you say that, this same group of friends; every winter we go to this camp spot, not a long hike, but most people don’t usually stay the night(stupid day hikers) and we always do a polar bear swim in the pools/stream that is near by

My dad always tries the log cabin method. I can't remember what the issue is right now but I do remember that it never works right for some reason.

I do more of a collapsed log cabin to be honest. A true log cabin doesn't feed the fire as well.

There's absolutely nothing better then a wood stove on a cold Winter night. On a side note, I just ordered 2 cords from my trusty wood guy who told me the price went from $275.00 last year to $400.00 now. Bastards.

Kind of the same here. Wife wanted to light it up. Been in 40s all day raining. Not hard to start up a gas fire though. But first for the season. Not as good as a true wood fire. But we got the outside fire pit for that.

I'm close to grabbing my trailer and snagging wood off the sides of the road. Lots still down from hurricanes 2 years ago. Cut, split, n sell.
