There's currently a lack of decent used Double Cabs in Denver, so I'm considering buying out of state. Part of the deal would be to trade in my 4Runner. How does that work? Anyone have experiences to share good or bad? Do I send pictures for them to evaluate, then verify in person? I'm still hoping to find something local, but I'm impatient.

I've done the fly-n-buy a few times, and can asssure you that it's good fun. Nothing like flying multiple states over, one way, with a cashier's check in-hand and hoping it all works out. :D

I bought my 2021 from CarMax. I saved a couple different searches and would get notified when vehicles matched. A Limited with 9,300 miles popped up in St Louis. They shipped it to the Denver CarMax store at no cost. They allow you a 24 hour test drive. If you purchase a vehicle they have a 30 day 1,500 mile return window, and as long as it is in the same condition, you get a full refund. It was very easy and I am satisfied with the truck and the price.

Just before I bought my new Tundra, I sold a 2016 Civic via Kelly Blue Book to a local Land Rover dealership and it was also a very easy experience. I had it for three years, put 41,000 miles on it and they gave $900 less than I paid for it. After I got the Tundra, I sold my 2000 Tundra via Craigslist which was a bit of a hassle, but not really a big deal.

I bought a local double cab this morning. I'm glad that process is finished...

Trades / all depends on the buyer.

Honestly - found it easier to sell to Vroom/Carvana/Carmax or or local dealer and eliminate that part of the transaction.

Then it’s just a straight purchase out of area - much less to go wrong and pretty straightforward.
